Details | The museum invites you to an artists’ conversation to celebrate the opening of Robert Houle: Red Is Beautiful. Join contemporary artist, writer, and educator Robert Houle (Saulteaux Anishinaabe), landscape artist Kay WalkingStick (Cherokee Nation), and the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Curator of Indigenous Art Wanda Nanibush (Anishinaabe) as they discuss Houle’s 50-year career and this first major retrospective of his work. Moderated by David Penney, the museum’s associate director for museum research, scholarship, and public engagement. Preceded by a book signing of the exhibition catalog at 10 AM outside the Roanoke Museum Store on Level 2 with Robert Houle, Wanda Nanibush, and David Penney. The exhibition catalog will be available for purchase in the store.
