The Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building’s glow-in-the-dark arcade party is back again for Solstice Saturday. This time, with a cosmic twist! We are activating the magic of live visual art performance, sound mixing, and the world’s most powerful X-ray telescope to bring YOU an out of this world arcade experience. Select your gaming opponent and buckle up as creative collaborators MasPaz x Guache, and artist collective Black Techno Matters join forces to transform galactic sounds and images captured by NASA’s iconic Chandra X-ray Observatory into an immersive journey beyond the sun and stars. This special event will feature some of your favorite arcade and table games, including skee ball, Galaga, air hockey, life size Light-Brite and Connect 4, mini golf, double shot basketball, and so much more! You only need 1-4 players to enter the party! First 1,000 gamers to enter will receive a glow bracelet. All gamers (visitors) are encouraged to reserve a ticket prior to the event. Entry will be granted on a first come first served basis. The Smithsonian marks the first Saturday of summer—Solstice Saturday—by staying open late and hosting programs and performances. Chandra X-ray Observatory is run by the Smithsonian for NASA. |
