Description | This introductory training is specifically designed for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The session will begin with an overview of ASD including core symptoms, strengths, and challenges. Next, an introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) – what it is, the basic principles used in this therapeutic approach, and the process of finding these services will be reviewed. Finally, behavioral support strategies such as reinforcement, punishment, and teaching loops will be discussed. Participants will: •Increase their knowledge of the core symptoms of ASD •Gain a basic understanding of ABA principles and learn at least one new behavioral strategy to utilize at home with their child •Learn about the process of obtaining ABA services in Washington state |
