A discussion of traditional thoughts and stereotypes of Black culture and Black identity presented within the popular media and psychological research. The discussion highlights how these traditional understandings of what it is to be Black in America have changed, incorporating both positive shifts and the persistence of old ideals that function as dividing lines within black communities.
