The School of IAS is partnering with The Center for Equity & Inclusion for "From Mammies to Jezebels: An Exploration of Black Identity, Colorism and Media Representation" with Dr. Rachel Tenniel. The event will be on Friday, February 16 at TLB 307B from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Join us for a vibrant discussion of traditional thoughts and stereotypes of Black culture and Black identity presented within the popular media and psychological research. The discussion will highlight how these traditional understandings of what it is to be Black in America have changed, incorporating both positive shifts and the persistence of old ideals that function as dividing lines within black communities. Students, staff, faculty and members of the community are invited to attend. |
