T URB 103 Urban Studies in Practice lunchtime brownbag. Today's Urban Studies Brown Bag lecture features a UW Tacoma student, Paulette Brown, who will share her experiences and reflect on her time working with various environmental groups (e.g. The Audubon Society) to help racially diversify their membership. This discussion is aimed at raising questions about why the mainstream environmental movement is generally so white, why there are racial disparities in 'nature appreciation' activities (National Park visitations), and what this says about environmentalism and our goals of 'sustainability'. All are welcome! JOY 117 at 12:25pm |
