Description | Grants Resource Center (GRC) Workshop at UW Tacoma, October 18 The Grants Resource Center (GRC) – a unit of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities – has supported sponsored research programs in higher education since the 1960s. UW Tacoma joined the GRC in Winter 2018. On October 18th, 9:00-4:00, UW Tacoma will host Director Erika Thompson, with Program Managers Richard Wellons and Frank Graeff from the GRC headquarters in Washington, D.C. These experts will provide: • Best Practices in Proposal Development • A review of key agencies and federal updates, e.g. NIH, DoD, DOE, NIJ, NEH • An overview of National Science Foundation (NSF) review of funding priorities, program, and Merit Review process. • A discussion of NSF funding opportunities that support Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs), including: o NSF funding opportunities that support collaboration between 2- and 4-year colleges, e.g. Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP), Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM), Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE), Research Coordination Networks (RCNs), Bridges to Baccalaureate o NSF funding opportunities that support student research experiences (e.g. Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs)) – with particular focus on experiences for both 2- and 4-year students o Additional funding opportunities available through other federal and private sponsors Coffee and refreshments, as well as a working lunch at noon will be provided during the workshop at no cost to participants.
