MODULE: Exposure to Business Foundations This course provides students a grounding in the basic terminology and theories of business, including accounting, finance, marketing, and operations management. Key Topics: -Goals of Business -Economics – Supply and Demand -Marketing – Branding and market strategies -Financial Accounting – Income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows -Finance – Time value of money, risk-return tradeoff, cost of capital, IRR -Management – Theories and applications Specific Objectives: After completing this module, participants should be able to: -Be able to understand the basic economic theories of supply and demand and their applications to business -Describe different types of marketing theories and their translation to strategy -Understand the six fundamental principles of finance -Understand the purpose for accounting laws -Be able to interpret and use basic accounting tools such as income statements and balance sheets -Describe the role of management in business |
