Dr. Morris is a pioneering sociologist at Northwestern, whose book The Origins of the Civil Rights Movement, opened a new generation of scholarship on how the movement came to be and who was in it. His book prizes included the American Sociological Association Distinguished Contribution to Scholarship Award. His recent work includes social movements theory, sociology of W. E. B. Du Bois, race, religion, social inequality and political sociology. His current book on Du Bois provides a powerful exposition of the impact that Du Bois had on American history. |
