| | Description | Professor Ma Dandan received her PhD in Anthropology from Minzu University of China (Beijing) in 2008. She has published a book on the Chinese middle class (2016) in which she critiques much sociological research on middle classes in China. In October 2017 she convened a successful conference on the Chinese middle class with a focus on fieldwork methodologies. She also has published about modern anthropology during the inter-war period and currently is supported by the National Social Science Fund for a project on the revival and development of anthropology in China since reform and opening up. Professor Ma has also translated two books into Chinese, Assault on Paradise by Conrad P. Kottak and China’s Motor by Hill Gates. |
