Description | In this lecture, Nancy Fraser will offer a colloquium on her work with members of the Philosophy Roundtable. A Leading Voice in Critical Theory Nancy Fraser works on critical social theory, feminist theory, and contemporary political theory. She is the co-author with Cinzia Arruzza and Titihi Bhattacharya of Feminism for the 99%: A Manifesto (Verso, 2019) and with Rahel Jaeggi of Capitalism: A Conversation in Critical Theory (Polity, 2018). Previous books include Fortunes of Feminism: From State-Managed Capitalism to Neoliberal Crisis (Verso, 2013), and Unruly Practices: Power, Discourse and Gender in Contemporary Social Theory (University of Minnesota Press, 1989), among many other books. Nancy Fraser will be at the University of Washington on May 6-10, 2019 as guest of the Tri-Campus Interdisciplinary Research Cluster on “Normative Innovation” and the Simpson Center for the Humanities. The activities above involve the Philosophy Roundtable, the Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs (PPPA) and the Social and Historical Studies (SHS) programs at the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at UW Tacoma, and the Departments of Philosophy and Political Science at UW Seattle. |
