Description | WE ARE PUGET SOUND - STORIES OF HOPE with Mindy Robert, Washington Environmental Council. In the darkest days of winter, how about some sunshine? We’re surrounded by so much troubling news that it’s hard to notice sometimes this amazing place where we live, work, and play. We Are Puget Sound, Discovering and Recovering the Salish Sea, celebrates the people, places, and wildlife of our home region. The book was published in partnership between Washington Environmental Council and Braided River, a conservation imprint of Mountaineers Books. The book and campaign connect people and place through stories that inspire and motivate. Our goal is for everyone to see themselves playing a part in Puget Sound recovery. Whether you’ve been in Tacoma for a few years or for generations, join us for a visual journey told through the eyes of people working for change. We’ll also share corners of Tacoma you may not have known about – but should! Mindy Roberts leads the Puget Sound program at the Washington Environmental Council (WEC), advocating for clean water, healthy habitat, and renewed leadership to recover and protect Puget Sound and the communities that depend on it. WEC’s mission is to protect, restore, and sustain Washington’s environment for all. Dr. Roberts is an environmental engineer with 30 years’ experience synergizing human infrastructure needs with natural resources. She served on Governor Inslee’s Orca Recovery Task Force, and is an avid climber and kayaker who can often be found exploring the mountains and waters of the Puget Sound region. |
