Description | Dr. Hershberg will present some of her research on how adolescents and young adults with different racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and gender identities think about injustices in society and take actions to address them-what philosopher Paolo Freire conceptualized as Critical Consciousness (CC). She will briefly describe some of her research with migrant teenage girls, White young men in trade schools, and more recently, UWT students with a range of identities and background characteristics. How CC and well-being might be associated with one another will also be explored, as well as implications for research and actions aimed at promoting Critical Consciousness on our campus. |
