REGISTER HERE Schedule: Every week on Friday, starting on 01/29/21 and ending on 04/23/21 Times: 09:00am - 12:00pm This course covers the concepts of Lean and Six Sigma for both manufacturing and service businesses. Students are provided an overview of Lean, Six Sigma and the DMAIC problem solving methodology. Included are both statistical and non-statistical techniques used for continuous process improvement such as process definition, process flow diagrams, data collection techniques, measurement techniques, causes of process variation, pareto diagrams, histograms, cause and effect diagrams, control charts and process capability analysis. The interactive classroom experience emphasizes strategic thinking, flexibility, teamwork and communication skills. Each student will create specific plans for their organizations using these Lean Six Sigma concepts. Students should plan on working in teams on projects outside of class. Participants should plan on spending 4-5 hours a week outside of scheduled class time for reading, homework and team project work where they apply Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools to improve a real business process. Note for WA State Employees: DES has reviewed the UW Tacoma LSS Green Belt course to determine if it meets the criteria and can be used to fulfill the requirement for the DES course titled: WA-State: Problem Solving the Washington Way.
