There is a myth that advanced care planning is something to do when we “get older.” The fact is, everyone over the age of 18 should have a power of attorney for health care – a person who understands what you would want to happen should you be unable to speak for yourself and who is designated as your advocate. It’s also true that thinking about end-of-life care can be overwhelming and that talking with your loved ones about your choices can be awkward or difficult. Dr. Lucille Marchand understands these challenges. She has dedicated her career to providing compassionate care to patients and families and is a leader in improving palliative care education. During this event, Dr. Marchand will open a conversation about advance care planning by sharing her experiences as a person, patient advocate and power of attorney for loved ones of her own, and as a physician, and providing insights from her clinical practice. The goal of this session is to reduce anxiety about advanced care planning and about conversations with loved ones. You will be invited to participate during the event and may also submit your questions and stories in advance. Learn more and register to attend on The Whole U events page. |
