The following invitation is sent on behalf of the Social Justice Research and Scholarship Initiative (SJRSI) faculty: Anaid Yerena, Robin Z. Minthorn, Janelle Hawes, Sonia De La Cruz, Weichao Yuwen, Raghavi Sakpal, Anindita Bhattacharya, and Jessi Quizar. Social Justice Research and Scholarship (SJRS) Gathering June 14 @9:30am-2:30pm in the TLB Atrium 307B or via zoom (details to be shared upon submitting your acceptance). We invite you to participate in a hybrid professional development opportunity open to all BIPOC faculty and staff members across campus. We are hosting the event on June 14th, 2023, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm PT. During the five-hour-long event, you will have the opportunity to: 1) share your scholarship interests with others, 2) build connections with other scholars across campus that have similar projects, methodologies, or who are interested in collaborating with one another to apply for research funding, 3) ask other faculty and staff questions on what they have found useful/supportive to thrive at UW Tacoma, and 4) provide input to the ongoing SJRS Initiative faculty team on the topics and workshops you think are needed for 2023-24. Since the initiative is being led by BIPOC faculty and for BIPOC faculty and staff, the broader impact of the work is to build an intellectual community and create a sense of belonging among scholars (both faculty and staff) on our campus. We would like to request you to submit your interest via this google form by the end of Friday, April 28th. Please, note we have additional funding to accept more BIPOC faculty and staff participants and are able to provide a stipend or support for attending this event. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/vGDExAYY7GkSKBH99 Pending funding received we will be able to accept up to 20 or more BIPOC faculty and staff for this event (we anticipate offering a small stipend or other form of support for participating). We will send you further information about acceptance for participating in this event. If you have any questions, please contact Robin Minthorn at robstarr@uw.edu with the subject line “SJRSI Gathering.” In order to help us spread the word about this event, we invite you to forward this message to any UWT BIPOC faculty and staff members you are connected to, this will both encourage others to consider participating and bridge any gaps the current email list has - it is better for people to be invited several times than to miss the invitation because they did not receive it. Thank you for considering. |
