Description | Are you ready for another exciting quarter at UW Tacoma?! Nothing says another quarter among your fellow Huskies than Involvement Fair, where you can connect with our student organizations and some UW Tacoma departments and services. Think about joining and getting involved with a particular organization that you have been interested in, or maybe something completely new! As we continue in our virtual setting, Winter Involvement Fair will take place virtually and we will be making use of Gather.Town to make it happen. Gather.Town is a web-based, video-conferencing software that provides you with an avatar so you’re able to walk around, visit RSO Tables, and learn as much involvement information as you’d like. Check out some helpful tips for using Gather.Town below: - Gather.Town functions best on Google Chrome and on a computer. You can use a tablet or a smart phone to attend, but all features may not be available.
- Gather.Town is a video-conferencing software that acts like reality- If you meet a person, their video will show up on your screen and you'll be able to talk to them. If you move away from them, their video will fade away and you won't be able to see or hear them. You use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move around and explore the area, organizations, and people around you.
- Student organizations each have their own table and underneath their area are colorful circles. If you step on a colorful circle, you will enter a private space, meaning that you will only be able to see and hear the people who are also standing on the colorful spaces. You can mute yourself so when you enter a space, you don’t interrupt the person who may be speaking. If you step out of the private space, you will not be able to hear or see what’s going on.
- Does something glow with a yellow aura? Interact with it by clicking X on your keyboard.
- Having technological or connectivity issues? Refresh the webpage to see if that corrects any issues.
