Employment Rights - Veterans

Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) are employment-focused workshops for veterans or veterans currently serving in the National Guard and Reserve, and their spouses. Employment Rights covers veterans’ basic standard employment protections and is also applicable to job seekers whose disabilities have an impact on their job search.

This workshop covers essential information on the American Disabilities Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act. Furthermore, reasonable accommodations and self-advocacy are presented.

Work for Washington – Job Hunter Virtual Workshop – Statewide

**We recommend attending the Effective Applications, Resumes and Cover Letters workshop, and the Interviewing workshop first, in order to get the most benefit from this workshop**

We invite you to further your knowledge of fundamental computer skills in an interactive and nurturing setting, which will enhance your employment prospects and equip you with strategies to distinguish yourself in communications with potential employers and educational institutions, ensuring optimal outcomes. This program will also facilitate the acquisition of problem-solving skills and access to learning tools that will greatly enhance your rate of success.

STATEWIDE: ESD Self‐Employment Assistance Program (SEAP) Orientation (Virtual)

The Self‐Employment Assistance Program (SEAP) may be a great opportunity if you want to start a business!

Once approved, SEAP is a unique program that enables you to:
· Receive entrepreneurial counseling and business coaching through a pre‐approved training provider
· Continue to collect Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits while developing your business plans
· Work on creating your business and waives the weekly work‐search requirement

You are invited to attend a virtual workshop to explore:
• What is SEAP? What does SEAP not do?
• Program eligibility requirements and deadlines • Locate and download from the SEAP Approved Provider List
• What are the responsibilities of an approved training provider?
• Research the proper training on the SEAP Approved Provider List
• Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Mock Interviewing Lab - In person

In this interactive workshop you will test drive your skills in preparation for the "real thing" by practicing in a supportive mock interview setting. We will include behavior-based interview questions and provide best practice strategies in improving your nonverbal skills.

Again, it's interactive - so come ready to play your part. Pre-registration is required (only a limited number of spots available for optimal participation opportunities).
