The SBCTC BEdA Professional Development Team is pleased to continue offering the English Language Acquisition (ELA) Community of Practice as one way to address faculty professional development needs regarding serving ELA students. Please share this opportunity with your BEdA faculty.
This CoP, facilitated by an experienced ELA faculty member, is designed for ELA professionals at varying levels of experience. Unlike traditional trainings, the content of a CoP is framed by the facilitator but fully developed by its members. Your contributions of research, analysis, questions and ideas are essential for creating the full experience. The sessions will provide opportunities for the group to actively engage in discussions, sharing knowledge and best practices, problem-solving, and generating new ideas for teaching and learning in the ELA classroom. A Canvas site will serve as the resource and engagement hub.
If interested, please plan to attend the full series and be sure to register for the ELA CoP as a whole via the registration link. Once you register, please be sure to hold the session times on your own calendar (from 10-11:30 am on these dates: 10/2/26, 11/13/26, 1/8/27, 2/5/27, 3/12/27, 4/16/27), as relevant agendas and Zoom links will be emailed to registrants closer to the CoP sessions.
This training is open to all regardless of protected class, and it is most appropriate for ELA faculty serving adult English language learners in the BEdA provider system.
