Miriam Calleja describes her new exhibition, "stuck; lingering" as a meeting of poetry and imagery in connection and conflict. Come to the Youth Department and enter the Tour De France! Instead of bicycles and a trip to France, we will be using the board game Flamme Rouge to re-create the actual tour course. We will be doing different stages each week and keeping track of players finishing. Everyone who participates will get a prize, the winner of the tour will get a Grand Prize! Players need to be ages 8+ to participate and attend all 4 days. *REGISTRATION REQUIRED*.

She incorporates fragments of her original verse into collages, watercolors, and mixed media pieces. Calleja is an internationally published poet, artist, translator, writer, and workshop leader. A native of Malta, she currently resides in Birmingham. An opening reception and poetry reading will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 on Friday, June 6. Join award winning journalists John Archibald, Becca Andrews and John Hammontree for the launch of their new podcast, “American Shrapnel: The Weaponization of Eric Robert Rudolph.” In 1996, Rudolph planted the largest pipe bomb in American history at the Atlanta Olympic Games. In 1997, he bombed an abortion clinic and a lesbian night club in Atlanta. The feds had dozens of suspects, but no real leads. Until Birmingham.

Miriam Calleja describes her new exhibition, "stuck; lingering" as a meeting of poetry and imagery in connection and conflict. She incorporates fragments of her original verse into collages, watercolors, and mixed media pieces. Calleja is an internationally published poet, artist, translator, writer, and workshop leader. A native of Malta, she currently resides in Birmingham. An opening reception and poetry reading will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 on Friday, June 6. This exhibition is made possible by a grant awarded to the Friends Foundation of BPL by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
