Exhibition: FISHO By Jack Rodgers
Redland Art Gallery
The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

In Visualising the Written Word, the artists of Redland Yurara Art Society Inc. explore the interplay between the visual and the written. Seeking inspiration from a variety of written stimuli, including poetry, song lyrics, personal correspondence and prose, the artists offer fresh, creative responses to their chosen sources.
Beyond illustration, each work offers a glimpse into the psyche of the artist, exploring both their selected written piece and their artistic response. From the deeply personal to the abstract, the breadth of works offered demonstrates the vast possibilities of creativity.

Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!

Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Whether it's a beloved tree from a childhood backyard, a native wildflower from your local landscape, or a plant that reminds you of someone special, this workshop invites you to bring those connections to the page.
Be guided in expressive line work, intuitive mark-making and contour line drawing techniques. Participants will discover how simple lines can capture not only the form and character of a plant, but also the personal memories and feelings it evokes.
No drawing experience is necessary—just curiosity, creativity and a willingness to slow down, observe and enjoy.

Drop-In Art Activity: Cast Your Line Drawing Game
Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!
Using the drawing materials provided, respond to the prompts as they appear and let chance guide your creativity. There are no mistakes, only new discoveries.

Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.

Exhibition: FISHO By Jack Rodgers

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.

Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!

These classes are designed for all levels of fitness with lots of options offered. You go at your own pace and ability; there is no floor work and no pressure. The ages range from 50 to 80 and beyond so you are in good company. It includes cardio, resistance work (all equipment supplied), stretching and relaxation in a friendly and safe environment. After each class, there is an opportunity to socialize and get to know one another, by having a cuppa in a nearby café plus there are fun monthly social events if you wish to join in. Prices are $16/class and a one-off Intro Deal of $60 for 5 classes with further discount class passes offered. You only pay when you attend. Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.
Each one has a different native Australian animal wearing a construction hard hat. Search high and low through the Museum to find them all and discover which animals have joined the construction crew. Can you track down all 8 Digger Doors and uncover every hidden animal?

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.
Each one has a different native Australian animal wearing a construction hard hat. Search high and low through the Museum to find them all and discover which animals have joined the construction crew. Can you track down all 8 Digger Doors and uncover every hidden animal?

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

Drop-In Art Activity: Cast Your Line Drawing Game
Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!
Using the drawing materials provided, respond to the prompts as they appear and let chance guide your creativity. There are no mistakes, only new discoveries.

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

Beyond illustration, each work offers a glimpse into the psyche of the artist, exploring both their selected written piece and their artistic response. From the deeply personal to the abstract, the breadth of works offered demonstrates the vast possibilities of creativity.

Drop-In Art Activity: Cast Your Line Drawing Game
Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!
Using the drawing materials provided, respond to the prompts as they appear and let chance guide your creativity. There are no mistakes, only new discoveries.

These classes are designed for all levels of fitness with lots of options offered. You go at your own pace and ability; there is no floor work and no pressure. The ages range from 50 to 80 and beyond so you are in good company. It includes cardio, resistance work (all equipment supplied), stretching and relaxation in a friendly and safe environment. After each class, there is an opportunity to socialize and get to know one another, by having a cuppa in a nearby café plus there are fun monthly social events if you wish to join in. Prices are $16/class and a one-off Intro Deal of $60 for 5 classes with further discount class passes offered. You only pay when you attend. Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.
Each one has a different native Australian animal wearing a construction hard hat. Search high and low through the Museum to find them all and discover which animals have joined the construction crew. Can you track down all 8 Digger Doors and uncover every hidden animal?

The local fishmonger, or ‘Fisho’ is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers’ case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers’ personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.

In Visualising the Written Word, the artists of Redland Yurara Art Society Inc. explore the interplay between the visual and the written. Seeking inspiration from a variety of written stimuli, including poetry, song lyrics, personal correspondence and prose, the artists offer fresh, creative responses to their chosen sources.
Beyond illustration, each work offers a glimpse into the psyche of the artist, exploring both their selected written piece and their artistic response. From the deeply personal to the abstract, the breadth of works offered demonstrates the vast possibilities of creativity.

Drop-In Art Activity: Cast Your Line Drawing Game
Take a chance and cast your line by spinning our Drawing Wheel. Each spin lands on a surprise drawing prompt, inviting you to add a new element, texture, shape, creature, or environment to your artwork.
Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!

Parents and Prams is a free, fun activity held once a month at Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland. Parents and Prams offers carers and their young children an opportunity to explore the latest exhibitions, socialise and get crafty.
My Story Scrapbook is a playful, sensory art experience for little artists aged 0-5 and their caregivers, inspired by Visualising the Written Word by Redland Yurara Art Society Inc.
Children will receive their own scrapbook and explore how marks, lines, symbols, textures and patterns can communicate ideas and tell stories. Using crayons, markers, stickers, stamps, washi tape and layering methods, they will experiment with creative self-expression while developing fine motor skills and confidence. Each page becomes a unique reflection of their imagination and a special keepsake to take home.
Prams and baby carriers welcome and baby change facilities available. Sessions are held three times throughout the day on a Wednesday each month.

Hidden throughout the Museum are 8 handcrafted Digger Doors – wooden plaques featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments to explore.
