Film Friday: Sensory Overload
Libraries

Finally, it tells the story of Burnett Au, a young adult on the autism spectrum who has struggled for…

The extraordinary true story of journalist Cheng Lei whose life was abruptly transformed when she was detained in China on false charges of espionage.
Journalist Cheng Lei spent more than three gruelling years in a Beijing prison after being wrongly accused of espionage. Harrowing, fierce and often darkly humorous, her memoir is about the power of the human spirit; bravery in the face of cruelty and pettiness; the consolations of letters, music and books; and how unexpected friendships and the love of family can unlock the courage we all have within us to prevail.

Italian For Absolute Beginners
Community events
There is no tuition fee for this weekly class apart from a small weekly venue hire. As the title of this course suggests, this course assumes you have little or no knowledge of Italian. Acquiring even basic proficiency in another language requires commitment which means a willingness to attempt the weekly set homework, as well as regular attendance.
Studying a foreign language may never enable you to converse like a native, but research has shown that it is a powerful weapon against dementia, stimulating your brain in ways other mental activities cannot. We not only study one of the world’s most beautiful languages but also immerse ourselves in the rich culture of Italy.
Our classes are on-going and are held in school term time only. Some of my advanced class have been studying with me for 10 years.
This will be the last intake of new students I will be offering and places are limited.

Alison Edwards' brilliant novel Two Daughters explores family, class, social justice and love with a large dose of wit, the occasional detour into darkness, but always with the heartbeat of hope.
A gorgeous debut reaching from the picturesque South Coast of NSW to the cloisters of Cambridge, it follows two young women's lives as they become entwined in ways neither could have expected. Exploring motherhood, class, social justice, love and identity, it is told with wit and empathy -- perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty.
For Ava, heading to university in Sydney is her escape from a poverty-stricken upbringing. Her mother is long gone, her father able to provide love but little else. When Mulanyin meets the beautiful Nita in Edenglassie, their saltwater people still outnumber the British. As colonial unrest peaks, Mulanyin dreams of taking his bride home to Yugambeh Country, but his plans for independence collide with white justice.
Two centuries later, fiery activist Winona meets Dr Johnny. Together they care for obstinate centenarian Granny Eddie, and sparks fly, but not always in the right direction. What nobody knows is how far the legacies of the past will reach into their modern lives.

For more details contact Greg at redlanduni@gmail.com.
