Book of the month: Uses for Obsession
An intimate, searing and hopeful memoir meets manifesto that reframes the way we think about restaurants, cooking, hospitality, leadership and humanity from one of the most respected chefs in the world.
Chef and restaurateur Ben Shewry knows obsession well. Whether it's crispy-edged lasagne, saltwater crocodile ribs or the perfect potato, obsession is what motivates him and what makes him tick. It's also what has propelled his Melbourne restaurant Attica into the league of the most innovative, acclaimed dining experiences in the world, and one of the most vital in Australian history.
In this absorbing and wide-ranging memoir meets manifesto, Shewry applies his sometimes searing, sometimes comic eye to creative freedom in the kitchen, food journalism, sexism in hospitality, the fraud of the farm-to-table sustainability ethos, the cult of the chef, cooking…

Book of the month: Cheng Lei: A Memoir of Freedom
The extraordinary true story of journalist Cheng Lei whose life was abruptly transformed when she was detained in China on false charges of espionage.
Journalist Cheng Lei spent more than three gruelling years in a Beijing prison after being wrongly accused of espionage. Harrowing, fierce and often darkly humorous, her memoir is about the power of the human spirit; bravery in the face of cruelty and pettiness; the consolations of letters, music and books; and how unexpected friendships and the love of family can unlock the courage we all have within us to prevail.

Reset & Refocus — Goal Setting for the Season Ahead (Wise, Wild + Well Series Workshop 1)
Community events
Reset & Refocus is the first workshop in the Wise, Wild + Well series — a grounding, practical evening designed to help women start the year with clarity, intention, and momentum.
Held on the Redlands Coast, this two-hour workshop offers space to pause, reflect, and gently reset. Participants are guided to clarify what matters most to them right now, set realistic and aligned goals, and break overwhelm into simple, achievable steps. The focus is not on pressure or unrealistic resolutions, but on creating direction that feels supportive, energising, and sustainable.
Facilitated by Angela Brandenburg, a counsellor, medical educator, and coach, the session blends evidence-informed wellbeing tools, guided reflection, and journalling in a calm, welcoming group setting.
The workshop takes place at The Studio by Carys Martin Ceramics and includes light refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen.

Garden Guardians - Sculpted Face Wall Plaques in Clay
Community events
A One-Day Immersive Workshop with Diane from Mud of Moon
Across the ages, humans have carved faces into stone, wood, and clay as symbols of spirit, power, and protection. From Celtic goddesses and Pagan guardians to forest spirits and ancestral watchers, these faces told stories, marked sacred places, and connected people to the unseen world.
In this immersive workshop, you’re invited to step into that lineage. Guided by ceramicist and creative Diane from Mud of Moon, you’ll spend the day hand-sculpting your own character wall plaque - a green man guardian, goddess, moon-watcher, or forest familiar of your imagining.
This is more than a class in clay. It’s a chance to create something infused with meaning - a piece that carries echoes of ancient traditions while reflecting your own creativity and spirit.
What You’ll Learn, How to build a simple armature to support your clay plaque , Techniques for sculpting expressive facial features , Ways to add symbolic adornments - leaves, vines, antlers, moons, or…

Create and connect: Blotted line monoprints

When Andy Warhol first used the blotted-line monoprint method, illustrators were amazed – and they’re still amazed today!
In this beginner class, you’ll learn the very same process that Warhol made famous using simple materials: a nib pen, acrylic ink and tracing paper. Plus, of course, you’ll need a wonderful image to trace. (A variety of images will be provided; however, if you wish to create an art piece from your own image, please bring a black & white A4 photocopy with you.)
Without any drawing skills required, we’ll walk you through how to create a one-of-a-kind monoprint that pops!

Create and connect: Blotted line monoprints
Libraries
When Andy Warhol first used the blotted-line monoprint method, illustrators were amazed – and they’re still amazed today!
In this beginner class, you’ll learn the very same process that Warhol made famous using simple materials: a nib pen, acrylic ink and tracing paper. Plus, of course, you’ll need a wonderful image to trace. (A variety of images will be provided; however, if you wish to create an art piece from your own image, please bring a black & white A4 photocopy with you.)
Without any drawing skills required, we’ll walk you through how to create a one-of-a-kind monoprint that pops!

Coming Home – Reconnecting with Yourself (Wise, Wild + Well Series Workshop 2)
Community events
Coming Home is the second workshop in the Wise, Wild + Well series and offers a gentle, nurturing pause after seasons of busyness and external focus.
This two-hour evening workshop invites participants to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with their bodies, needs, and inner wisdom. Rather than fixing or pushing, the focus is on settling, self-kindness, and creating space to feel grounded and present again.
Facilitated by Angela Brandenburg, a counsellor, medical educator, and coach, the session blends evidence-informed wellbeing tools, guided reflection, and journalling in a calm, supportive group environment.
Held at The Studio by Carys Martin Ceramics on the Redlands Coast, the workshop includes light refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen.
Coming Home can be attended on its own or as part of the six-workshop Wise, Wild + Well journey, which supports women to reconnect, build steadiness, and move through the year with greater clarity and ease.
