'Le Chapeau' Textiles Exhibition

Visit the Redlands Coast Museum for "Le Chapeau" a textiles exhibition running from September 2025.
This display features an array of beautiful hats, as well as millinery tools and equipment. The hats range from a fragile 1880s black silk bonnet to a smart black straw bucket hat from the 2000s. There are also a number of stunning items donated by Brisbane milliner Dell Johnstone and her mother, Mrs Edna Hicks (also a qualified tailoress).
If you not only have a passion for fashion, but an interest in its history, make sure you don't miss out on this fascinating exhibition!

Starting in September, visit Redlands Coast Museum in southeast Queensland for a fascinating and varied art exhibition!
Some visual artists choose oils, acrylics, watercolour or pastels on paper, canvas or timber panels – each has distinct properties that lend themselves to different effects. Sculptors prefer clay, stone, metal, wood – these mediums dictate the tools and often the form of the artwork.
Richness and diversity of artist’s styles makes the art world incredibly rich and diverse. Imagine if everyone drew in the exact same style – it would be far less compelling!
This exhibition is a salute to the differences in artist’s work.

On Saturday 11 October, KIRRA, along with the support of the Redland City Council, we are holding a festival to celebrate Seniors Month.
We will be organising workshops, talks, music, market stalls and food as part of a full day of activities based around the community groups on the island. Our focus is Longevity and Aging Well setting up the morning at the community room and gardens, our workshops focussing on healthy living with Healthy Life Forum, Mindful Meditation class, photography class, a presentation from ADA with the Karragarra choir roaming the island, the community garden will be involved with a small market stall area.
Later in the day at the pavilion with high tide scheduled at 1pm we will have a band, Latin Dance class (supports brain memory and mobility) and The Men's Shed will have a food stall.

When Andy Warhol first used the blotted-line monoprint method, illustrators were amazed – and they’re still amazed today!
In this beginner class, you’ll learn the very same process that Warhol made famous using simple materials: a nib pen, acrylic ink and tracing paper. Plus, of course, you’ll need a wonderful image to trace. (A variety of images will be provided; however, if you wish to create an art piece from your own image, please bring a black & white A4 photocopy with you.)
Without any drawing skills required, we’ll walk you through how to create a one-of-a-kind monoprint that pops!

The RDCOTA Seniors Walk is for seniors, family and friends designed to provide not only exercise and viewing some of Redlands parks and wildlife.
It is not a race and no prizes for first. We have a number of marshals along the route to ensure safety and prevent you getting lost.
The full walk is 10 kilometres (5 km out and 5 km return). Marshals are provided to let you know when you reach the 3, 5, 7.5 and 11-kilometre turn-around spots. Remember, it not a race, you walk at your own pace for as long as you are comfortable (the official shortest walk is 3 times around the tree at the start).
There are 2 portaloo stops (at the 5 and 7.5 turn-around spots).
Registration is just $5 and you receive a goodie bag. You will get a registration number, which is for the free walk prize draws. Also, there is a coffee cart where we supply you one free coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc and on your return a light breakfast

Visit the Redlands Coast Museum for "Le Chapeau" a textiles exhibition running from September 2025.
This display features an array of beautiful hats, as well as millinery tools and equipment. The hats range from a fragile 1880s black silk bonnet to a smart black straw bucket hat from the 2000s. There are also a number of stunning items donated by Brisbane milliner Dell Johnstone and her mother, Mrs Edna Hicks (also a qualified tailoress).

There is no tuition fee for this weekly class apart from a small weekly venue hire. As the title of this course suggests, this course assumes you have little or no knowledge of Italian. Acquiring even basic proficiency in another language requires commitment which means a willingness to attempt the weekly set homework, as well as regular attendance. Studying a foreign language may never enable you to converse like a native, but research has shown that it is a powerful weapon against dementia, stimulating your brain in ways other mental activities cannot. We not only study one of the world’s most beautiful languages but also immerse ourselves in the rich culture of Italy.
Our classes are on-going and are held in school term time only. Some of my advanced class have been studying with me for 10 years.

You will learn the techniques to create pottery pieces, and Diane will show you how to master the skills of slab building, coiling and pinch pots and step you through the creative process of making and glazing. You are free to concentrate on your own projects or to be inspired by pieces in the studio and Diane's own artworks that you can see on Mud Of Moon. I have been teaching law for over 50 years, including at the museum for five years. I offer ten law units with a different aspect of law covered each term. The coming term we are studying Family Law.
Classes run in school term time and apart from a small weekly venue hire, tuition is free. No prior legal knowledge is assumed. There is no assessment and classes are designed to be interesting, enjoyable, interactive and easy to understand. I set optional weekly homework for those who want to explore topics in greater depth. 'Le Chapeau' Textiles Exhibition

Visit the Redlands Coast Museum for "Le Chapeau" a textiles exhibition running from September 2025.
This display features an array of beautiful hats, as well as millinery tools and equipment. The hats range from a fragile 1880s black silk bonnet to a smart black straw bucket hat from the 2000s. There are also a number of stunning items donated by Brisbane milliner Dell Johnstone and her mother, Mrs Edna Hicks (also a qualified tailoress).

This course of 7 week classes at The Studio in Cleveland is perfect for those wishing to learn and extend their skills in hand building and sculpting. You will learn the techniques to create pottery pieces, and Diane will show you how to master the skills of slab building, coiling and pinch pots and step you through the creative process of making and glazing. You are free to concentrate on your own projects or to be inspired by pieces in the studio and Diane's own artworks that you can see on Mud Of Moon. After creating your pieces you are able to focus on decorating using under glazes, tissue transfers and stoneware glazes. Diane will show you different decorating techniques to finish your pieces.

About the book:
In Mischance Creek, Hirsch is checking firearms. The regular police audit: all weapons secured, ammo stored separately, no unauthorised person with keys to the gun safe. He’s checking people, too. The drought is hitting hard in the mid-north, and Hirsch is responsible for the welfare of his scattered flock of battlers, bluebloods, loners and miscreants.

Visit the Redlands Coast Museum for "Le Chapeau" a textiles exhibition running from September 2025.
This display features an array of beautiful hats, as well as millinery tools and equipment. The hats range from a fragile 1880s black silk bonnet to a smart black straw bucket hat from the 2000s. There are also a number of stunning items donated by Brisbane milliner Dell Johnstone and her mother, Mrs Edna Hicks (also a qualified tailoress).
If you not only have a passion for fashion, but an interest in its history, make sure you don't miss out on this fascinating exhibition!

Join artist Norton Fredericks for a two-day drop spindle masterclass exploring the ancient art of spinning yarn. Begin with the park-and-draft technique, move into suspended spinning, and learn to spin raw wool locks before wet-finishing your yarns for a professional touch. Each participant will receive a botanically dyed natural fibre batt to spin, create their own solar-dyed yarn, and embellish a hemp project bag with slow stitching. By the end of the weekend, you’ll take home a drop spindle, four skeins of finished yarn, and your own hand-stitched project bag. When: Saturday 18 October & Sunday 19 October 2025

'Le Chapeau' Textiles Exhibition

Visit the Redlands Coast Museum for "Le Chapeau" a textiles exhibition running from September 2025.
This display features an array of beautiful hats, as well as millinery tools and equipment. The hats range from a fragile 1880s black silk bonnet to a smart black straw bucket hat from the 2000s. There are also a number of stunning items donated by Brisbane milliner Dell Johnstone and her mother, Mrs Edna Hicks (also a qualified tailoress).
If you not only have a passion for fashion, but an interest in its history, make sure you don't miss out on this fascinating exhibition!

If you are wishing to hone your sculpting skills then this is the perfect course for you! This course of 6 week classes at The Studio in Cleveland is perfect for those wishing to learn and extend their skills in hand building and sculpting. You will learn the techniques to create pottery pieces, and Diane will show you how to master the skills of slab building, coiling and pinch pots and step you through the creative process of making and glazing. You are free to concentrate on your own projects or to be inspired by pieces in the studio and Diane's own artworks that you can see on Mud Of Moon. After creating your pieces you are able to focus on decorating using under glazes, tissue transfers and stoneware glazes. Diane will show you different decorating techniques to finish your pieces.

'Le Chapeau' Textiles Exhibition

Visit the Redlands Coast Museum for "Le Chapeau" a textiles exhibition running from September 2025.
This display features an array of beautiful hats, as well as millinery tools and equipment. The hats range from a fragile 1880s black silk bonnet to a smart black straw bucket hat from the 2000s. There are also a number of stunning items donated by Brisbane milliner Dell Johnstone and her mother, Mrs Edna Hicks (also a qualified tailoress).
If you not only have a passion for fashion, but an interest in its history, make sure you don't miss out on this fascinating exhibition!

I have been teaching law for over 50 years, including at the museum for five years. I offer ten law units with a different aspect of law covered each term. The coming term we are studying Family Law.
Classes run in school term time and apart from a small weekly venue hire, tuition is free. No prior legal knowledge is assumed. There is no assessment and classes are designed to be interesting, enjoyable, interactive and easy to understand. I set optional weekly homework for those who want to explore topics in greater depth. Classes begin at 11:30 am and finish at 1:00 pm with an afternoon tea break during the class. Our Term 4 Family Law unit begins on October 8. For more details contact Greg at redlanduni@gmail.com. Lights out, let's dance! For one hour most Wednesdays, we turn out the lights & crank up the tunes to shake out the stresses of the week, exercise at our own pace, and get lost in the music. If you are wishing to hone your sculpting skills then this is the perfect course for you! This course of 7 week classes at The Studio in Cleveland is perfect for those wishing to learn and extend their skills in hand building and sculpting. You will learn the techniques to create pottery pieces, and Diane will show you how to master the skills of slab building, coiling and pinch pots and step you through the creative process of making and glazing. You are free to concentrate on your own projects or to be inspired by pieces in the studio and Diane's own artworks that you can see on Mud Of Moon. After creating your pieces you are able to focus on decorating using under glazes, tissue transfers and stoneware glazes. Diane will show you different decorating techniques to finish your pieces.
