Exhibition: CREATE EXCHANGE: Painted Up featuring Dean Bingkin Tyson
Redland Art Gallery
Dean Biŋkin Tyson’s work reflects body painting as cultural adornment, privilege and resistance. Drawing on decades as a dancer, song man and bidiyamundu (didgeridoo) player, his practice honours ancestral markings and shares some stories of yulu burri ba, stories belonging to the sand and sea.
Painted Up is part of a three-year project of artist-residency style exhibitions and activations, collectively titled CREATE EXCHANGE. The exhibition is presented at Redland Art Gallery, The Mezz at Redland Performing Arts Centre from 23 March and Redland Art Gallery Cleveland, from 7 April 2026.
