Blacksmithing at Redland Museum
Community events
The blacksmith’s shop is a 1870s split slab hut originally from Mt Cotton. For many years it was the home of brothers Bob and Herman Holzapfel. In 1972, it was dismantled and rebuilt at the Redland Museum and is still in use every weekend.
Every Saturday morning, the Museum blacksmiths light the forges and demonstrate the ancient craft at the anvils, using old world methods and tools made in the 19th century.
Come and watch the fires heat the metal, and the glowing iron being transformed into intricate and beautiful items such as poppies and planters, or useful household items such as side tables.

Coochie Art Group (CAG) is delighted to present their Annual Art Show for 2024 at the Redland Museum in August.
CAG is one of the oldest community art groups in the Redlands, and began on Coochiemudlo Island in 1972.
CAG's 52nd Annual Art Show, "Beyond the Brush" will be open for the month of August. Floor talks by the artists will be held on Wednesday 14/8/24 at 10:00am.
The show will include all new, original works of art, 2D and 3D, in varied mediums and genres, and will be for sale for very reasonable prices, as well as hand-painted cards and unframed works.
Visitors will also be able to vote for their favourite art work with the People's Choice.
Redland Museum Dunn Wing Gallery is part of the Redland Museum displays and is open daily from 10am – 3.30pm 7 days a week.

The blacksmith’s shop is a 1870s split slab hut originally from Mt Cotton. For many years it was the home of brothers Bob and Herman Holzapfel. In 1972, it was dismantled and rebuilt at the Redland Museum and is still in use every weekend.
Every Saturday morning, the Museum blacksmiths light the forges and demonstrate the ancient craft at the anvils, using old world methods and tools made in the 19th century.
Come and watch the fires heat the metal, and the glowing iron being transformed into intricate and beautiful items such as poppies and planters, or useful household items such as side tables.

AusBike is Australia’s national program designed to give kids the essential skills to experience the freedom, fun and adventure of life on a bike. The program has been designed by expert coaches and is delivered by accredited instructors.
The sessions are flexible and designed to teach kids fundamental skills in locations ranging from basketball courts, indoor halls, local pump tracks, footy ovals and more.
AusBike caters for kids with all levels of bike riding experience – whether they’re just off training wheels, or further down the track with their cycling journey.

Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month, mums at any stage in their pregnancy have a place to make new friends and share joys, concerns and questions. The blacksmith’s shop is a 1870s split slab hut originally from Mt Cotton. For many years it was the home of brothers Bob and Herman Holzapfel. In 1972, it was dismantled and rebuilt at the Redland Museum and is still in use every weekend.
Every Saturday morning, the Museum blacksmiths light the forges and demonstrate the ancient craft at the anvils, using old world methods and tools made in the 19th century.
Come and watch the fires heat the metal, and the glowing iron being transformed into intricate and beautiful items such as poppies and planters, or useful household items such as side tables.

AusBike is Australia’s national program designed to give kids the essential skills to experience the freedom, fun and adventure of life on a bike. The program has been designed by expert coaches and is delivered by accredited instructors.
The sessions are flexible and designed to teach kids fundamental skills in locations ranging from basketball courts, indoor halls, local pump tracks, footy ovals and more.
AusBike caters for kids with all levels of bike riding experience – whether they’re just off training wheels, or further down the track with their cycling journey.

The blacksmith’s shop is a 1870s split slab hut originally from Mt Cotton. For many years it was the home of brothers Bob and Herman Holzapfel. In 1972, it was dismantled and rebuilt at the Redland Museum and is still in use every weekend.
Every Saturday morning, the Museum blacksmiths light the forges and demonstrate the ancient craft at the anvils, using old world methods and tools made in the 19th century.
Come and watch the fires heat the metal, and the glowing iron being transformed into intricate and beautiful items such as poppies and planters, or useful household items such as side tables.

AusBike is Australia’s national program designed to give kids the essential skills to experience the freedom, fun and adventure of life on a bike. The program has been designed by expert coaches and is delivered by accredited instructors.
The sessions are flexible and designed to teach kids fundamental skills in locations ranging from basketball courts, indoor halls, local pump tracks, footy ovals and more.
