The Art of Tea
Making tea is an ancient art – long practiced in both China and Japan. If you are interested in the history and tradition of tea and want to experience more than an afternoon ‘cuppa’ then this is the workshop for you.
Delight in the subtle delicacy of a green or yellow tea, imbibe the robust taste of a rich red, or experience the delight of a fermented pu-er tea. Whether you prefer earl grey or oolong, we’ll find the tea for you. Learn how tea is made and the proper method to brew your tea of choice.
Due to the length of this workshop, please bring a snack for yourself.

A walk back to Gondwana - Special walk - City Botanic Gardens
Botanic Gardens Walks and Tours
Australia is an ancient land with amazingly ancient plant species, many even dating back to the time of Gondwana, when Australia was joined to Antarctica, India and South America and when dinosaurs roamed the land. Many of our conifers emerged and thrived at this time. They still survive today, and many are showcased within the City Botanic Gardens. Come and explore these magnificent trees and find out about what makes them so unique within the Australian landscape.
Requirements: This walk includes moderate physical activity, including walking slightly longer distances, up gentle slopes and stairs or walking on some uneven surfaces. Some standing periods for guide explanations but no sitting. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane’s only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to growing Australian native trees. The Arboretum holds scientific and cultural values with many of the original plantings undertaken by prominent citizens of Brisbane.

Heritage walk - Special walk - City Botanic Gardens

The Queensland Heritage Register describes the historical importance of Brisbane's City Botanic Gardens as “the most significant, non-Aboriginal cultural landscape in Queensland, having a continuous horticultural history since 1828, without any significant loss of land area or change in use over that time."
Join us on this special guided walk as we take you on a journey through nearly two hundred years of history, from the convict settlement days to the green inner-city oasis you see here today and learn of the significant contribution the Botanic Gardens have had to the development of Queensland.
Requirements: This walk includes moderate physical activity, including walking slightly longer distances, up gentle slopes and stairs or walking on some uneven surfaces. Some standing periods for guide explanations but no sitting. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
