Bush Kindy: Wild Play

Join us for a special Bush Kindy, making memories with your little ones as they take part in outdoor, child-led play. Be prepared to get a little messy! Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through unstructured, open-ended play with natural materials. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. This activity is for the general public. Join a fun guided walk to visit some of our resident bats and learn some amazing facts about these winged wildlife heroes. These quiet (and not-so-quiet) achievers are crucial to the health of forests, making all bats ecological powerhouses! Discover our forest habitats after dark through virtual reality! Ever wondered what happens in the forest at night? Come and experience virtual forest habitat whilst learning about which nocturnal animals are out and about while we are normally asleep! Focusing on Australian native wildlife, we discuss why animals might be nocturnal, how they survive and how we can protect them and their habitat. Our new Community Walking Group is a relaxed, social way to explore Brisbane’s beautiful parks and green spaces. Walking in a group is a safe and supportive way to explore bushland, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with the area or prefer not to walk alone. Along the way, you might pick up interesting facts about local flora, fauna, and history, while enjoying the many benefits of walking, from improved health, community connection, and time in nature. Safety first! Please wear closed-in walking shoes, bring a water bottle, and dress in sun-protective clothing including a hat and sunscreen.
