2025 Neighbourhood Cleanup Kickoff

Join us for a litter cleanup in the Still Creek neighbourhood on Saturday, March 15th from 10am- 12:30pm to keep the it looking spectacular!

You can look for our tent setup on the north side of Falaise Park (3434 Falaise Ave.). We will provide cleanup equipment such as gloves, litter pickers or tongs, and garbage bags, but you are also welcome to bring your own.

After the cleanup we will enjoy some light refreshments together.

The Orpheum, a designated National Heritage Site, was built in 1927. Each year the theatre hosts international musicians, popular concerts and unique events; it is also home to the beloved Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

The 90-minute walking tours are led by the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and reveal some secrets of the theatre's history. One story includes Frank Sinatra almost being kicked out of the theatre for breaking dressing room lights while he practiced his golf swing!

There are three ways to participate in the free swap:
(1) Swap it. Drop off items for others to choose from and then pick out new-to-you items dropped off by others.
(2) Donate it. Feel free to donate items without taking home anything new.
(3) Take it. Nothing to donate? No problem! Everyone is welcome to take items home – there are plenty of great finds to go around.
General guidelines:
Items will be accepted from 10am-12:30pm.
Size – each item will fit in a regular size reusable bag – think grocery bag.
Condition - in clean, good working order.
Quantity - bring 1-2 items, take as many as you like.
What to do when you arrive:
Step 1 - If you have them, check-in your donated items with the event organizers.
Step 2 - Browse the swap tables and select items you can use.

Repair Cafés bring together local repair volunteers with a knack for repairing who are willing to lend their knowledge and show event participants how to carry out repairs. Community members are encouraged to bring computers/laptops, bicycles, small appliances, textiles, and electronics to be diagnosed and, if possible, repaired.
Registration opens 3-4 weeks before the event date and can be accessed on SPEC's website linked below.
