Join us for a lesson from feminist philosopher Dr. Lindsey Stewart as she shares about her book, The Conjuring of America: Mojos, Mermaids, Medicine, and 400 Years of Black Women’s Magic. The Conjuring of America tells the stories of the Black women who, for centuries, courageously practiced and passed down their traditions.
Their contributions can be seen from the traditional medicines that informed Vicks VapoRub and the rise of Aunt Jemima’s Pancake Mix, to the original magic of Disney’s The Little Mermaid (2023) and the true origins of the classic all-American blue jean.
