Secure document disposal at no cost!
The Department of Energy and Environmental Services invites Long Beach residents to participate in upcoming shred events offering no-cost, secure disposal of sensitive documents. Shredded paper is not recyclable in curbside recycling carts. Take advantage of this opportunity to securely shred documents and ensure the paper is recycled right.
During each event, two mobile shredding trucks will be on-site until 10 a.m. or until the trucks reach capacity.

There is a limit of 3 boxes per vehicle and the box size cannot exceed 10” x 12” x 15” dimensions. Not Accepted:

Long Beach community members are invited to a recycling facility tour in partnership with the City’s contracted residential recycling hauler, WM. During the tour, participants will see how materials from curbside recycling carts are sorted using both technology and trained staff. Participants will learn what happens to materials after they are collected, what can and cannot be recycled, and how people and equipment work together to keep the recycling system running.
For safety reasons and to comply with facility requirements, tours are open to Long Beach community members 18 or older. Please note that this tour involves stair climbing.There are 13 spots available per tour, and advanced registration is required to secure a spot. Tours fill up quickly. Those who register after a tour is full will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if a spot opens up.
