Dev Cuny’s Assigned at Birth: My Funeral Part 1

What if the story you were given about your life… wasn’t yours? In this raw, darkly funny, and deeply human 60-minute solo performance, Dev invites audiences to their own funeral — a ritual decades in the making. Raised in a charismatic Christian home where salvation, gender, and destiny were tightly scripted, Dev takes us on a journey through faith, shame, desire, survival, and ultimately, the fight to live truthfully. Blending music, storytelling, and physical performance, Assigned at Birth explores what it means to be handed an identity — and what it costs to break free from it. This is not a story about dying. It’s a story about what it takes to finally live. Category: Theater / Concerts. Festivals / Parades. Contact Name: The Marsh Berkeley. Contact Phone: 415-282-3055. Joyful Raven’s Tactical Frivolity

Born into a radical theater company, Joyful Raven was tasked from the tender age of 5 with the daunting mission to save the world from impending doom… using theater. Forced into animal-print unitards and political positions long before she was a consenting adult, she never had a fighting chance at anything resembling a normal life. You think your parents were embarrassing? Did you have to sing about salmon sex on stage, in a unitard, at 12 years old… WITH your parents? I didn’t think so. In an attempt to heal her hippie trauma, she runs away from home to seek solace in the arms of a spiritual teacher… and accidentally finds herself in the yoga-to-fascism pipeline. Can she save herself? Can she save the world… using theater?! Or does she have to choose? Blending standup, drag, storytelling, & clown, Raven takes audiences on a dystopian and hilarious romp through the looking glass. Category: Theater / Concerts. Festivals / Parades.

Yvonne Martinez’s Someday Mija, You’ll Learn the Difference Between a Whore and a Working Woman

This piece celebrates unsung women of color labor activists, beginning with Yvonne’s sex worker grandmother who, with her sisters mugged scabs in 1950’s Utah. Yvonne became a labor organizer/labor negotiator. The show tells stories of resistance by actual Bay Area Labor Activists who led local labor campaigns. Scabmuggers were turn of the century immigrant women who patrolled picket lines in early textile strikes to if necessary “persuade” and assist others to honor picket lines. True now in this era of labor foment as it was 100 years ago, these women have a tale to tell. “A must-read (listen) to learn more about this titan.” Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland.

The History of Chileans in San Francisco

About the Event While other states slowly assimilated waves of immigrants in the 1800s, the Gold Rush produced a “Big Bang” of immigration from all over the world. A group of Chileans who embarked from Valparaiso were some of the first to arrive in San Francisco in 1849, driven by the discovery of gold. This presentation will focus on little-known events like the Chilean Wars in Northern California, which inspired the only play ever written by Chilean Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda; the connection between local icons Allen Ginsburg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti and the illustrious Chilean poet Fernando Alegría; the influx of Chilean exiles in the 1970s; and the works of local Chilean author Isabel Allende. After the presentation, enjoy a taste of Chilean wines and traditional Chilean snacks. About the Presenter Marcia Campos w… Category: Museum / Exhibitions. Community Events / Volunteerism. Interpreting 250 Years Since the Anza Expedition

About the Event This year marks the 250-year anniversary of the arrival of the Anza Expedition. In 2026, many events across the Bay Area and beyond have commemorated the arrival of the Anza expedition, which led to the founding of the Presidio and Mission Dolores. The 2026 Kevin Starr lecture will explore the legacy of the expedition and its impact, addressing crucial issues, questions, conflicts, and perspectives that have persisted in the 250 years since Anza’s arrival. A distinguished panel of community-based researchers, scholars, and museum practitioners will examine not only how we view these complex interactions and events, but also how we interpret them in practical contexts such as K-12 schools, universities, historic sites, and museums. The lecture will take place at the University of San Francisco. An in-person wine and cheese reception will start at 5:30 P.M. Category: Community Events / Volunteerism. Museum / Exhibitions. Misc.
