Free Historic Walking Tours in San Mateo County
FREE Historic Walking Tours Throughout San Mateo County This Summer
Complementing its Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum is offering FREE walking tours throughout the Peninsula this summer. From Daly City to Pigeon Point, visit four cemeteries, a stable, six downtowns, one interesting residential area, a ranch, a dueling site, a slot machine collection, a lighthouse, and the Cow Palace.
Victorian Days is also a FREE event and features family activities that inform youngsters about life in the nineteenth century. It takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.

Join us for a guided tour of the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center's demonstration gardens and living landscapes. Led by rotating OAEC staff, these tours offer an opportunity to explore our diverse food, medicinal, pollinator, and native plant gardens while learning about the ecological principles that guide our work.

San Francisco’s acclaimed Merola Opera Program, one of the world’s most prestigious opera training programs, continues its 2026 season with its penultimate production, the serio-comic “Ariadne auf Naxos.” Composed by Richard Strauss and conducted by Ann-Katrin Stöcker with stage direction by Omer Ben Seadia (Merola ’14), this piece blends mythological tragedy with comic opera. Framed as a show within a show, the opera takes a delightfully serious look at happiness, despair, and love, showcasing the talented Merola emerging artists. Join us for a 5K or 10K run with Pacifica Runners on Sunday, August 2, 2026. We'll be trotting in style and having a blast on the coast!
Bring your best Tiki themed attire and join Pacifica Runners for the 2026 TIKI TROT 5K/10K. This is a mostly flat, out-and-back route starting at the end of Beach Blvd and Paloma in Sharp Park, following the path along the ocean past the Pacifica pier, turning towards Moose Lodge, and for the 10K continuing on south towards Rockaway Beach. The 5K will turn around at Moose Lodge, while the 10K route continues on to turn around right before the switchbacks. We almost always get to run this race while whale watching - just be careful, doing both at the same time can be tricky.

Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse takes place Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 am until 2 pm at the San Mateo County History Museum, housed within the Old County Courthouse at 2200 Broadway, Redwood City.
The Victorian Era was named for Queen Victoria, who reigned in Great Britain from 1837 to 1901. Discover what life was like in the 1800s through craft activities and a vintage fashion show. Admission and craft activities are FREE.

Complementing its Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum is offering FREE walking tours throughout the Peninsula this summer. From Daly City to Pigeon Point, visit four cemeteries, a stable, six downtowns, one interesting residential area, a ranch, a dueling site, a slot machine collection, a lighthouse, and the Cow Palace.
Victorian Days is also a FREE event and features family activities that inform youngsters about life in the nineteenth century. It takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.

Complementing its Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum is offering FREE walking tours throughout the Peninsula this summer. From Daly City to Pigeon Point, visit four cemeteries, a stable, six downtowns, one interesting residential area, a ranch, a dueling site, a slot machine collection, a lighthouse, and the Cow Palace.
Victorian Days is also a FREE event and features family activities that inform youngsters about life in the nineteenth century. It takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.

FREE Historic Walking Tours Throughout San Mateo County This Summer
Complementing its Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum is offering FREE walking tours throughout the Peninsula this summer. From Daly City to Pigeon Point, visit four cemeteries, a stable, six downtowns, one interesting residential area, a ranch, a dueling site, a slot machine collection, a lighthouse, and the Cow Palace.
Victorian Days is also a FREE event and features family activities that inform youngsters about life in the nineteenth century. It takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.

Complementing its Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum is offering FREE walking tours throughout the Peninsula this summer. From Daly City to Pigeon Point, visit four cemeteries, a stable, six downtowns, one interesting residential area, a ranch, a dueling site, a slot machine collection, a lighthouse, and the Cow Palace.
Victorian Days is also a FREE event and features family activities that inform youngsters about life in the nineteenth century. It takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.

Born into a radical theater company, Joyful Raven was tasked from the tender age of 5 with the daunting mission to save the world from impending doom… using theater. Forced into animal-print unitards and political positions long before she was a consenting adult, she never had a fighting chance at anything resembling a normal life. You think your parents were embarrassing? Did you have to sing about salmon sex on stage, in a unitard, at 12 years old… WITH your parents? I didn’t think so. In an attempt to heal her hippie trauma, she runs away from home to seek solace in the arms of a spiritual teacher… and accidentally finds herself in the yoga-to-fascism pipeline. This piece celebrates unsung women of color labor activists, beginning with Yvonne’s sex worker grandmother who, with her sisters mugged scabs in 1950’s Utah. Yvonne became a labor organizer/labor negotiator. The show tells stories of resistance by actual Bay Area Labor Activists who led local labor campaigns. Scabmuggers were turn of the century immigrant women who patrolled picket lines in early textile strikes to if necessary “persuade” and assist others to honor picket lines. True now in this era of labor foment as it was 100 years ago, these women have a tale to tell.

This piece celebrates unsung women of color labor activists, beginning with Yvonne’s sex worker grandmother who, with her sisters mugged scabs in 1950’s Utah. Yvonne became a labor organizer/labor negotiator. The show tells stories of resistance by actual Bay Area Labor Activists who led local labor campaigns. Scabmuggers were turn of the century immigrant women who patrolled picket lines in early textile strikes to if necessary “persuade” and assist others to honor picket lines. FREE Historic Walking Tours Throughout San Mateo County This Summer
Complementing its Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse, the San Mateo County History Museum is offering FREE walking tours throughout the Peninsula this summer. From Daly City to Pigeon Point, visit four cemeteries, a stable, six downtowns, one interesting residential area, a ranch, a dueling site, a slot machine collection, a lighthouse, and the Cow Palace.
Victorian Days is also a FREE event and features family activities that inform youngsters about life in the nineteenth century. It takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.

Founded in 1882 the GGPB holds the distinction as San Francisco’s Oldest Musical Organization.
