Too Poor to Die— Author Amy Shea In Conversation With Andrea Firth
Please join us on Tuesday, Sep 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM as we welcome author Amy Shea in conversation with Andrea Firth for a discussion of and signing of her new book, Too Poor to Die: The Hidden Realities of Dying in the Margins. Books will be sold at the event, or you can order a copy at https://ggpbooks.com/search?q=too%2Bpoor%2Bto%2Bdie.
Death may be the great equalizer, but not all deaths are created equal. Too Poor to Die bears witness to the disparities in death and dying faced by some of society’s most vulnerable and marginalized and asks the reader to consider their own end-of-life and disposition plans within the larger context of how privilege and access plays a role in what we want versus what we get in death.

Marin Theatre presents “Eureka Day”
Marin Theatre kicks off its 2025/26 season with Jonathan Spector’s acclaimed play "Eureka Day" presented in partnership with Aurora Theatre Company in a new production that reunites almost all of its original cast members. The Marsh Berkeley presents “Lesbo Solo: My Gay History Play”
The Marsh Berkeley presents the latest work from pioneer lesbian playwright Terry Baum—”Lesbo Solo: My Gay History Play” co-directed by Sarah Alberston and Bill Peters. A Best of Fringe winner at the 2024 San Francisco Fringe Festival, the play begins in 1963, when Terry’s beloved high school teacher is threatened with being fired over rumors that she’s a lesbian. Spanning over five decades, “Lesbo Solo: My Gay History Play” is both a narrative coming-out story and gay historical opus—a reminder that history is first lived, then written. As Terry evolves from a homophobic teenager into an outspoken lesbian and political force, audiences are taken on a whirlwind tour of the gay liberation movement shared from Baum’s personal, hilarious, and deeply lived story.

San Francisco Playhouse presents “Noises Off”
San Francisco Playhouse presents Michael Frayn’s rollicking backstage comedy “Noises Off.” Full of slapstick silliness and choreographed chaos, this uproarious comedy follows a dysfunctional British theatre troupe struggling to stage the door-slamming farce “Nothing On”. The drama rages both onstage and behind the scenes as missed cues, misplaced props, and romantic entanglements cause their production to descend into madcap mayhem. The New York Post deemed “Noises Off” “the funniest farce ever written” while The New York Times lauded it as “a festival of delirium. Spectacularly funny. The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy.”.
