Tend the Soil, Touch the Sky: Vietnamese Immigrants in Placer County is a photo and video exhibit dedicated to capturing the faces, voices, and experiences of Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in our local Placer County area 50 years after the end of the Vietnam War.

Honors students from various disciplines, such as Ethnic Studies, History, English as a Second Language (ESL), Graphic Design, and Building Industries, have worked together to collectively create the exhibition in celebration of Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Month.
The exhibit is generously supported by the Sierra College Foundation (SCF) and the American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) Collaborative Grant.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
Gain valuable skills using appropriate resources, tools and scientific language to overcome common challenges in plant identification. Through lecture, discussions and hands-on activities, Emeritus professor Shawna Martinez will show you how to identify native plants and to see botanical relationships. You’ll practice using dichotomous keys and be trained to recognize the characteristics so you can identify the most common plant families. This series is a partnership with the Redbud Chapter of the California Native Plant Society and Sierra College’s Natural History Museum.
