Students, employees, and community members are invited to attend an in-person Open Forum and share their perspectives directly with the Peer Review Team. Learn more about our accreditation.

Attend our orientation and training session to learn all about our paid tour guide/docent program at the Sierra College Natural History Museum. This event is open to current tour guides and interested volunteers and students.

At this training session you will receive sign up materials and a tour guide handbook. Upon completion of sign up and training, participants can lead guided tours of the Museum and the Nature Trail! Our more experienced tour guides, will talk about how they manage their guided tours and other strategies they use.
Our tour guides/docents give tours to guests of all ages, including school children and adults, on Fridays and occasional Saturdays during the school year. With our tour guide program you:

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
Gain valuable skills using appropriate resources, tools and scientific language to overcome common challenges in plant identification. Through lecture, discussions and hands-on activities, Emeritus professor Shawna Martinez will show you how to identify native plants and to see botanical relationships. You’ll practice using dichotomous keys and be trained to recognize the characteristics so you can identify the most common plant families. This series is a partnership with the Redbud Chapter of the California Native Plant Society and Sierra College’s Natural History Museum.
