Important Dates The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) and the International Relations Committee offer International ACS NSQIP Scholarships for three surgeons from countries other than the U.S. or Canada who demonstrate a strong interest in surgical quality improvement. The scholarships, in the amount of $10,000 each, allow the Scholars to attend the annual ACS Quality and Safety Conference and to meet with Program Leadership and Surgeon Champions from ACS NSQIP-participating hospitals. Following the conference, the candidate is encouraged to visit one or two hospitals reflecting the candidate’s specific clinical interests. Important Dates The 2025 TQIP Annual Conference Call for Abstracts is now open! All abstracts received will be reviewed and considered for poster presentation during the TQIP Annual Conference, November 8-10 in Chicago, IL. We may select some abstracts for development as case studies or oral presentations during the conference. Enrollment ends June 16 for ACS Objective Assessment of Skills in Surgery (ACS OASIS)

Important Dates ACS OASIS is a formative assessment that can be used to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement in selected technical skills of junior-level surgical trainees (PGY-2). It uses simulation-based, time-limited stations with faculty assessors to measure resident performance on a series of technical tasks essential for surgical practice. Significantly, the ACS OASIS results will support surgical trainees, surgical educators, and program directors in tailoring learning activities to address individual and group needs in the competency-based education and training era. Important Dates The ACS offers International Guest Scholarships to young surgeons from countries other than the United States or Canada who have demonstrated strong interests in teaching and research. The scholarships, in the amount of $10,000 each, provide the scholars with an opportunity to visit clinical, teaching, and research activities in the U.S. and Canada and to attend and participate fully in the educational opportunities and activities of the Clinical Congress. This scholarship endowment was originally provided through the legacy left to the College by Paul R. Hawley, MD (FACS Hon), former College Director. More recently, gifts from the family of Abdol Islami, MD (FACS), the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and others to the International Guest Scholarship endowment have enabled the ACS to expand the number of scholarship awards. International Surgeons: Apply by July 1 for Community Surgeon Travel Award for Clinical Congress 2026

Important Dates The International Relations Committee of the ACS is pleased to announce travel awards for surgeons aged 30 to 50. These awards, in the amount of $4,000 each, provide international surgeons with the opportunity to attend and participate fully in the educational activities of Clinical Congress. They are proposed to specifically assist surgeons who work in community or regional hospitals or clinics in countries other than the United States and Canada, or who are from poorly resourced academic departments of surgery in poorly resourced countries.
