Onwards: A Series of Fast-Moving Pitches of Innovative Ideas from Individuals, Institutions, and Industry. Five minutes. Twenty slides. One idea that could change surgical practice.
The ACS Innovation Summit invites surgeons, simulation educators, researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and industry partners to submit Onwards proposals focused on the future of surgical practice. Onwards proposals are fast, visual, and idea-driven: 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide. Each talk should spotlight one clear idea, insight, challenge, innovation, or lesson learned that can help advance surgical practice.
We welcome submissions on emerging technologies, AI, surgical simulation, immersive technologies, medical devices, robotics, learner assessment, curriculum design, human factors, implementation barriers, program sustainability, and academic-industry collaboration.

Important Dates
The Spring 2027 Surgeons as Educators Course Application is now open. The application is open until October 2.
This 6-day intensive course, offered by the ACS Division of Education, is designed to provide surgeons with the knowledge and skills to enhance their abilities as teachers and administrators of surgical education programs.
The course emphasizes the needs of adult learners and the techniques necessary to develop an effective learning environment for medical students, surgical residents, and colleagues. The class size is limited, and participants are carefully selected to foster highly interactive sessions.
The course will be held at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, 1615 Clifton Rd. Atlanta, Georgia, 15 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The Fall 2026 course will take place August 29–September 4, 2026 and the Spring 2027 course will take place March 20–26, 2027
