Apply by January 15 for ACS/UChicago Fellowship in Surgical Ethics

Important Dates In conjunction with The MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at The University of Chicago, the ACS is offering fellowships in surgical ethics to interested surgeons. This fellowship program, open to Fellows, Associate Fellows, and residents, provides the opportunity for motivated individuals to obtain the specialized knowledge, skills, and training required to become leaders in the field of surgical ethics. The fellowship requires about 25% of the individual’s academic time.  The fellowship prepares surgeons for careers that combine clinical surgery with scholarly studies in surgical ethics and will begin with a 5-week, full-time course in Chicago in July and August 2026. From September 2026 to June 2027, fellowship recipients will meet weekly for a structured ethics curriculum. Learn More and Apply Today. Submit Nominations by February 23 for ACS/Pfizer Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards

Important Dates The American College of Surgeons (ACS), in association with Pfizer, Inc. accepts nominations for the 2026 Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards. All nominations must be submitted through the Nominations Portal. Nominations will be evaluated by the ACS Board of Governors Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards Workgroup, and their selections will be forwarded to the Board of Governors Executive Committee for final approval. The following conditions apply to the nominations process: Self-nominations are permissible and encouraged. Such nominations require at least two outside letters of recommendation. One of the letters must be submitted by a Fellow of the College. In addition, self-nominators must submit three references that the Workgroup may contact. It is required that at least one reference also be a Fellow of the College. , Re-nomination of a previous nominee is acceptable and encouraged.
