Energy Law Lecture Series- Guest Speaker Courtney Hjaltman -Commissioner, Public Utility Commission of Texas

Energy Law Lecture Series presents Courtney Hjaltman, Commissioner, Public Commission of Texas Monday March 2nd in the Lanier Auditorium at noon.  Commissioner Hjaltman was confirmed by the Texas Senate in 2025. Hjaltman previously served as the chief executive and public counsel for the Office of Public Utility Counsel (OPUC). At OPUC, she led the agency's representation of residential and small commercial customers in proceedings before the PUCT, State Office of Administrative Hearings, state courts, and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Hjaltman has extensive policy experience including in the electric, water, and telecommunication industries and has worked for the State of Texas in a variety of roles throughout her career. Loewy Lecture-"Ethics in the digital age -Legal Counsel in an Era of Disruptive Technologies”

Please join us for this Springs Loewy Lecture April 20th in the Lanier Auditorium at Noon.   Arnold Loewy was the first professor to hold the Texas Tech School of Law's new George R. Killam Jr. Chair of Criminal Law; Loewy initiated a series of annual symposiums in the area of criminal law or criminal procedure. In addition to his work on the annual symposiums, Loewy taught a Supreme Court seminar and courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, and the First Amendment. TTU School of Law established a lecture series in honor of Professor Loewy's tremendous contributions to the field of criminal law and to Texas Tech University School of Law following his passing in 2021. Federalist Society Debate

The Federalist Society will be hosting Jeremy Dys for a debate over the Johnson Amendment which has prohibited tax-exempt organizations classified under Section 501(c)(3) from participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.
