Student Summit II: Breaking the Boxes and Revealing Our "Browndaries"

Join us to be a part of this dynamic student summit where your voice and agency matters. This day includes active, experiential learning, where we'll explore the significance of "browndaries" and the intersection of our multiple identities in the world today. SERC in collaboration with the CSDE will develop and present bi-weekly Talk Tuesday sessions. Talk Tuesdays are a "drop-in" networking opportunity that provides district and school staff an opportunity to learn about "what’s new" hear from topic area experts and support each other and their work to improve student attendance and engagement. Low-Cost and No-Cost AT - Session B

Do you know how to access the best technologies for your children’s education? And did you know that many assistive technologies cost little or nothing to you or your school? This hands-on session is designed for educators and families of students with disabilities, learning differences, and any kind of academic challenge in school.       Participants will learn about low‐cost and free technologies, including open-source software, online resources, apps, and accessibility features built into the technology many of us use every day. Writing Secondary Transition Goals and Objectives that Support Student Outcomes April 25, 2024 (8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, an IEP must include appropriate measurable postsecondary goals based upon age-appropriate transition assessments related to training or education, employment, and, where appropriate, independent living skills. [IDEA § 300.320(b) Definition of IEP]. In Connecticut, for each Postsecondary Outcome Goal Statement written, there must be a minimum of one separate, corresponding annual transition goal with short-term objectives written to support it.
