EMS 2026: Theological Anthropology for Missional Engagement
EFC Events
Evangelical Missiological Society Canada 2026 Regional Conference
Theme: "Theological Anthropology for Missional Engagement"
In-Person: Alberta (AB): The King’s University, Edmonton , British Columbia (BC): Trinity Western University, Langley , Manitoba (MB): Steinbach Bible College, Steinbach , Ontario (ON): Tyndale University, Toronto, If you cannot attend in person, join us online for live sessions and discussions.
This year’s theme “Theological Anthropology for Missional Engagement” is central to missiological reflection and practice, since acts of gospel witness, service, and cultural engagement all rest on assumptions about human identity, dignity, and destiny. In a rapidly changing world—marked by shifting views of spirituality, ethnicity, gender, technology, and ecology—the church must embrace a biblically faithful and missionally engaged understanding of the imago Dei.
At the heart of this year’s theme is the exploration of Imago Dei in missional engagement—how human dignity, human rights, and…

Kentro Annual Forum
Join relief and development workers for Kentro's Annual Forum on April 13-15, 2026 in Mississauga for inspiring discussions, networking, and shared insights shaping the future of development work. As faith-based organizations engaged in development work, we sense the call to pursue justice with dignity and mutuality. In practice, however, whose voices shape our operational vision?
This Forum will invite participants to reflect on the power dynamics influencing who sets the agenda, who makes the decisions, and ultimately who benefits — both locally and globally. Why do some efforts, like those supporting women and children, for example, attract significant support, while initiatives led by Indigenous leaders and/or traditional authorities often remain underfunded?
In light of our faith, what does true partnership look like — especially when donors and institutions hold the larger share of financial and/or structural power?
Through dialogue and reflection, we’ll explore what it means to shift from “doing…

Lessons from Re-Planting a Church
No Blueprint Required: Lessons from Re-Planting a Church will be held Thursday, April 16, at 9:30 AM MT.
While this session is rooted in the experience of re-planting a church, it’s truly for any pastor or leader navigating change, renewal, or the quiet realization that “what used to work” may no longer be enough. Whether your church is plateaued, tired, reimagining its future, or simply longing for fresh life, this conversation will meet you where you are.
Pastor Wendy Payne brings over 30 years of ministry experience and shares with honesty, humility, and grace what God has taught her about listening to the community, caring for people in practical ways, letting go of what no longer serves the mission, and learning not to fear failure. This isn’t a how-to seminar or a polished success story. It’s a real, hope-filled conversation about loving people well and trusting God when the path forward isn’t clear.
You don’t need to be re-planting to benefit from this. If you’re: longing to see renewed life in your…

Church With No Home Tour in Mississauga - by Open Doors
Pastor Barnabas and his family live in a tent that’s smaller than a double mattress in an IDP camp in Nigeria. They lost their home because militants attacked their village, and have been cast aside, feeling forgotten by the world, for 5 years.
For some believers around the world, the church has no formal place to call home. Church closures, forced evictions, mass displacement or the need for extreme secrecy means that church communities have difficulty gathering and worshipping together.
But despite this, the Church finds ways to meet, holding onto the Lord, Who is always with them.
Join Open Doors for a special presentation featuring stories of persecuted believers who are boldly following Jesus no matter the cost. You will hear about the latest World Watch research and have the opportunity to stand in prayer for the global church.

Colloquium: Just what is "Scripture and Theology"?
How do we read Scripture to serve theology, and how does theology help us to read Scripture better?
After 18 years, Wycliffe College takes stock, and asks its own faculty and some guests what they have learned on the nature of Scripture, theology, and how they relate. How does that relationship make a difference to how faculty write (publish) and teach in their respective fields (from Hebrew poetry to church planting)? Some faculty will consider biblical theology, others - the "theological interpretation of Scripture," and the "open" hermeneutics of the Bible and of theology.
Join Wycliffe faculty along with Geoffrey Ready (Trinity) and John A. Vissers (Knox) as they explore the theme of the theological interpretation of Scripture.

Pastoral Calling Reimagined
Pastoral Calling Reimagined is a two-day gathering for pastors, denominational leaders, theological educators, and lay leaders who sense that the Spirit is already calling people into vocational pastoral ministry, even as our traditional models often struggle to recognize and support them. Rather than responding with fear or scarcity, this conference invites participants into a hopeful and grounded reimagining of pastoral leadership shaped by real Canadian contexts.
Drawing on the forthcoming book from New Leaf Press, Pastoral Calling Reimagined: Celebrating the Spirit’s Abundant Invitation, we will explore how pastoral calling is emerging today through:
Mid-career calls into pastoral ministry
Multivocational pastoral leadership
Shared call and leadership between clergy and lay leaders
This is not simply a book launch. It is a working gathering designed to help pastors, churches, denominations, theological institutions and leaders learn how to notice, name, and nurture the pastoral gifts already present in…

Parenting faith: Passing faith to the next generation
EFC Events
How do we help children and youth develop a lasting, resilient faith?
In a time when many young people are stepping away from their faith as they grow older, this question has never been more important. Parents and grandparents play a vital role in shaping the spiritual lives of the next generation, but many are asking what truly makes a difference.
Join us for this engaging workshop as EFC senior researcher Lindsay Callaway shares key insights from national research, including findings from survey with over 1,000 Canadian evangelical parents, as well as conversations with ministry leaders and parents across Canada. Together, we will explore how faith is formed at home and what practical steps families can take to nurture and sustain it.
This session is designed to encourage, equip, and empower you with meaningful, research-based insights you can apply in everyday life.
Light refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome, and admission is free.

Baptize Canada represents a historic opportunity for churches across our nation to unite in celebration of new life in Christ.

By joining together, we create a witness that transcends our individual congregations. National Indigenous Peoples Day
This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.
Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.
In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice, for National Aboriginal Day, now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.
