James River Batteau Festival (40th Annual)
The James River Batteau Festival is a unique eight-day paddling event and heritage celebration tracing the historic route of batteaux boats on the James River. Each day, participants launch in the morning (around 8–10 AM) and paddle scenic stretches of the river, arriving at riverside camps by late afternoon. Evening festivities start around 5:00 PM and include live music, storytelling, communal dinners, and socializing in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Rivanna Roots is a beloved family-friendly outdoor concert series held on the scenic banks of the Rivanna River. Set eight years after the Hart–Celler Act abolished immigration quotas in America, the play follows Luna and Jane as they bond over their longing for home and excitement for the future. Over the course of one evening, they share hopes, fears, dreams, and laughter, illuminating the immigrant experience and asking, “Would you give up your heart to make a new home?” Directed by Desdemona Chiang, this heartfelt story is filled with humor, humanity, and resonance for today’s audiences.

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) 2025 – Charlottesville Regional
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) returns to Charlottesville for the 2025 regional, hosted at John Paul Jones Arena! This single-elimination, winner-take-all tournament features top talent and a $1 million prize for the champion. Rivanna Roots is a beloved family-friendly outdoor concert series held on the scenic banks of the Rivanna River.
