Rivanna Roots is a beloved family-friendly outdoor concert series held on the scenic banks of the Rivanna River. Archaeology in Action at Monticello invites visitors to witness and engage with ongoing archaeological excavations at this UNESCO World Heritage site. 20-minute discussions offered daily Monday-Friday at 11am and 1pm, weather permitting. THURSDAYS and FRIDAYS: Join archaeologists for a 45-minute walking tour that explores what we've learned from current and past excavations on the historic mountaintop.

Archaeology in Action at Monticello invites visitors to witness and engage with ongoing archaeological excavations at this UNESCO World Heritage site. 20-minute discussions offered daily Monday-Friday at 11am and 1pm, weather permitting. THURSDAYS and FRIDAYS: Join archaeologists for a 45-minute walking tour that explores what we've learned from current and past excavations on the historic mountaintop.
Talks begin near the excavation site on the east front of the main house.
Included with any Monticello admission, no reservations required. Guests can observe professional archaeologists as they carefully uncover artifacts that reveal the daily lives of those who lived and worked at Monticello, both enslaved and free. Rivanna Roots Concert Series
Rivanna Roots is a beloved family-friendly outdoor concert series held on the scenic banks of the Rivanna River. Enjoy an evening of outstanding local and regional music in a relaxed riverside setting.
