Join the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program and the UM Electric Vehicle Center for a canoe-based clean-up on Gallup Pond, a calm, scenic stretch of the Huron River that is ideal for first-time paddlers.
Volunteers will be paired in canoes (special requests may be accommodated) and provided with grabbers, bags, and all necessary supplies to remove litter from the water and shoreline. Burns Park Shelter. Kids and their caregivers will build a small fairy house, starting with a hand-painted door, then heading onto a wooded path to build the rest of the house out of clay and natural materials gathered along the way. We’ll leave this village of houses along the path as a gift to the fairies of Ann Arbor. No experience needed, just kids ready to get outside and make something with their hands. Show some love to a city park! Join the City of Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations and the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program for a volunteer workday focused on caring for the park’s playground area.
During this event, volunteers may do a variety of projects, depending on the need of the park.
Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or joining us for the first time, this is a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, connect with community members, and make a visible impact in a neighborhood park.
No prior experience is necessary—staff will provide all tools, supplies, training, and guidance throughout the event.
