The emphasis is on fresh perspectives on familiar issues, as well as new themes, all through the lens of nationally and internationally recognized authorities on their respective subjects. 2Nixons Ramenshop

"2Nixons started as a local pop-up restaurant designed to shed the influence of restaurant owners/investors who tend to guide food decisions toward profit over a lot of the most important things which make food both delicious and fun. We decided to bring this concept to Proof becuase Owner Craig Nelson (a highly regarded local voice in the food & beverage community) has been an adament supporter since the very early days and we believe in the element of Proof. We will be featuring Ramen but look for us to adjust the menu to reflect what we can source from both local farmers & purveyours. We will also be focusing on grilled snacks because we beieve in the taste of fire & charcoal. Look for an ever changing Whiskey and cocktail menu to reflect this unique collaboration. "The Tempest"

"The College of Charleston Department of Theatre and Dance's 2018-2019 season of social justice is expressed this year through musical theatre, drama, comedy and dance. The theme continues to support the College of Charleston’s sustainability literacy initiative aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to solve challenges of social justice, economic disparity, and looming environmental concerns. The Department is committed to exploring these critical challenges this season and every season. The season will open this month with correlating productions of William Shakespeare's The Tempest and Rough Magic by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. THE TEMPEST: “We are such stuff as dreams are made on…” After 12 years of being unjustly exiled to a remote island, Prospero sets in motion a plan to seek redemption for himself and his daughter. Family & Friends

"Hailing from the musical mecca of Athens, Georgia and built on the idea that the sum is greater than the individual parts, Family And Friends has steadily gained a loyal following with their spirited live performances and “good music, good people” mantra since releasing their 2015 EP XOXO. Their new highly anticipated album Felix Culpa, produced by Chicago-turned-L.A. auteur Brad Wood and due out June 8th, is nothing less than an epic coming-of-age tale with a massive sound that amplifies their former indie-folk roots onto a technicolor, Cinemascope screen. Whereas Family And Friends’ first EP focused heavily on love, and the second on nostalgia, Felix Culpa is caught somewhere between adolescence and adulthood and finds Family And Friends at a pivotal moment in their maturation both as artists and individuals. With a classic coming-of-age narrative, the album’s theme focuses on a precipice of life’s journey, as we begin the quest for existential meaning and come to terms with the fact that people, relati… Event Type: Concert. The Veldt / Leisure McCorckle

"Daniel and Danny Chavis are natives of Raleigh/ Chapel Hill, North Carolina and East Village residents for the past 28 years. They are also co-founders of the groundbreaking band The Veldt, who lifted their band’s name from a Ray Bradbury science fiction story. Musically reared in the church and juke-joints of their native southern state, the twins have been performing since they were children, listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. In March, they, together with bassist/programmer Hayato Nakao, return to their roots with the release of The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation Mixtape EP. The first single is the emotionally wrought Sanctified, a ballad that perfectly captures the lush sound of Danny’s screeching guitars and decibel-breaking distortion, along with Daniel’s soulful wail and Hayato Nakao’s deep bass grooves and guitar feedback, the track serves as the perfect re-introduction to this dynamic band.
