TURKUAZ

"Drip painting entails actively splashing myriad colors on canvas. Popularized by Jackson Pollock, Janet Sobel, Max Ernst, and other 20th century luminaries, the artform itself relies on action and motion. In similar fashion, energetic splashes of funk, alternative, rock, R&B, and psychedelia color the music of Turkuaz. Balancing male-female harmonies, strutting guitars, wild horn arrangements, and interminable grooves, this spirit takes shape in the color donned by each respective member on stage nightly via larger-than-life performances. The Brooklyn-based nonet—Dave Brandwein [guitar, vocals], Taylor Shell [bass], Craig Brodhead [guitar, keys], Michelangelo Carubba [drums], Chris Brouwers [trumpet, keys], Greg Sanderson [tenor sax], Josh Schwartz [baritone sax, vocals], Sammi Garett [vocals], and Shira Elias [vocals]—ignite an explosion of energy punctuated by neon hues, deft musicality, and show-stopping singalongs on their fifth full-length album, Life In The City. “Turkuaz is made up of individ… Event Type: Concert. Kenny Chesney

Country music superstar Kenny Chesney will bring his Songs For The Saints Tour to Daniel Island's Volvo Car Stadium on April 25th, 2019. On his website, Chesney said, "Last year, No Shoes Nation took it to a whole other level and they blew all of us away. It was the kind of energy you don’t take for granted. So when we started thinking about next year, they made me wanna come to them. Rather than the massive two-day set-up, make everyone come to a stadium away from their homes, I wanted to go to where the fans live, strip things back a bit, and make it a little more intimate. I’m fired up for 2019." Chesney has recorded 14 albums that have been certified Gold or higher by the RIAA. He has also produced more than 40 Top 10 singles on the US Billboard Country charts, 29 of which have reached number one. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. It sounded like the dirt I grew up from. That moment musically changed my life.” ~ Brent Rupard of Everette https://www.everette-music.com Like the great American bands that came before them – new Broken Bow Records duo Everette doesn’t follow trends. Instead, the guys of Everette write what they live, weaving gritty tales of struggle and heartbreak alongside fun-loving stories of escapism and mischief. Often their songs are written while touring – sometimes during sleepless nights as an odometer tracks the miles or on a day off in a dingy motel room off the beaten path – but always organically and always from the heart. Hailing from humble beginnings, Brent Rupard and Anthony Olympia unknowingly went to high school a mere eight miles apart in rural Bullitt County, Kentucky. "The Lion in Winter”

Sibling rivalry, adultery and dungeons are coming to Threshold Repertory Theatre in April as it presents “The Lion in Winter.”  “The Lion in Winter” by James Goldman is a modern-day classic often described as a medieval “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.” Comedic in tone and dramatic in action, the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family, which is locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine - also the wealthiest woman in the world - has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. The play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry’s paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, “Every family has its ups and downs,” and this royal family is no exception. Paul O'Brien plays King Henry II and Jennifer Metts plays Eleanor of Aquitaine. This local production of “The Lion in Winter” is directed by Paul Rolfes. Performances are 7:30 pm, April… Event Type: Theater. Friday, April 26, 2019, 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM. Randy McQuay

"Life in North Carolina and passion for music, culture, and art led Randy to be a roots musician and songwriter. Traveling solo or with his band around the Southeast region if the U.S. since age of sixteen, he has gained chops, experience, and notoriety. He has an aggressive, soulful, and sultry voice that lures the listener into original, heartfelt lyrics. His acoustic style is derived from claw-hammer and Travis picking styles with added percussion. Like an original troubadour, he harnesses the harmonica around his neck. Adding fast and sweeping single-note lines over rhythm guitar, he creates a full band sound. His idea is to push the boundaries of coordination, playing all the parts with no compromise. “He is a storyteller, Bluesman, and a master interpreter of modern American roots music. Randy McQuay II sings from the heart, plays guitar with abandon, and blows harmonica like he’s from another planet.

Saturday, April 27, 2019, 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM.
