HADESTOWN at Shubert Theatre

COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE. Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today... and always. HADESTOWN intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, HADESTOWN is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go. Event Type: Local Event. Event Category: Art & Culture. Couples. Entertainment. Family. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM. Shubert Theatre 247 College Street, New Haven, CT. For more info visit www.shubert.com.

NEW HAVEN CARIBBEAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL

The Caribbean Diaspora has always had an impactful contingent in various areas of the United States of America. Caribbean Nationals have been a part of the rich culture of New Haven since the 1900’s or longer. In 2014 under the Distinguished Patronage of Hon. Mayor Toni N. Harp and the City of New Haven we were invited to showcase our rich culture at City Hall. We had approximately 200 people sharing, learning, reminiscing, tasting and just overall having a “gran ole time”. The celebration has turned into an annual festival named The New Haven Caribbean Heritage Festival to enjoy performances, delicious Caribbean cuisine, beautiful displays of islands and colorful costumes. This year will be the 8th anniversary of the festival, aptly hosted in June which is dubbed National Caribbean American Heritage Month. This year, we are returning to downtown New Haven on the upper Green thanks to our partnership with the International Festival of Arts & Ideas.
