The New York State Record Sealing Law

Virtual Workshops Did you know that certain criminal convictions in New York State (NYS) can be sealed? Do you know what it means to seal a criminal record? The NYS Record Sealing Law (Criminal Procedure Law §160.59) was established in October 2017, and it allows people having no more than two convictions (only one of which can be a felony) in New York to be able to apply to have their convictions sealed. While sealing does not erase your criminal record, it significantly limits who can have access to it. People interested in attending this webinar should know that there are important time frames to be aware of regarding their most recent conviction or release from incarceration that need to be met before applying for record sealing.
