Educating Leaders in Today's Environment (ELITE)

UT Student Events ELITE (Educating Leaders In Today’s Environment), a highly interactive program, serves as an entry point to leadership programs and opportunities at UT. ELITE is an overnight off-campus retreat scheduled before orientation for the fall semester. There are two different ELITE programs offered, ELITE Classic and ELITE Outdoors. Our classic retreat focuses on introducing students to the social change model of leadership development. Participants are introduced to the seven values of the model through highly interactive group activities, discussion and personal reflection. The outdoor retreat introduces participants to various roles, skills and behaviors apparent in team leadership. Roughing it and intentionally designed outdoor simulations provide the backdrop for learning, discussion and personal reflection. Student Event Type: Spartan Ready. Price: $150. Tampa Animation Festival Masterclass with Screenwriter Tim Albaugh

College of Arts and Letters As part of this year’s Tampa Animation Festival, CAL’s Department of Film, Animation and New Media will host a masterclass given by Tim Albaugh who has taught screenwriting at Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Feature Animation, UCLA, UC Irvine, and Hollins University. Albaugh will discuss story structure, script writing basics- cranking out a well thought out and compelling script in a time crunch. His students have sold features to all the major studios and have had multiple features produced including the recent film ALL EYEZ ON ME and the Christian Bale film THE MACHINIST. Their work in TV includes, but is not limited to, BLACKISH, INSECURE, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, HAWAII FIVE-O, WYNONA EARP, IZOMBIE, THE MAGICIANS and many others.
