How to Win $300K in Federal Contracts

Every federal contract $150,000 or less is set aside for small businesses. Yet last year, small businesses only reeived 12% of these contracts. Why? Because either the small business did not show up or if they did, they did not show up properly. Only 2% of US small businesses seek out the federal marketplace due to the myths of too much red tape and too little margin. Dispel the myths, take the mystery out of selling to the federal government, and expand sales to the largest customer in the entire world! Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root with Dirk Miller

The music scene on Pittsburgh’s South Side in the 1990’s included a house band that played a weekly gig at Jack’s Back Room. The front man was singer/songwriter Michael Glabicki and the band was called Rusted Root. The multi-platinum band, which had its first platinum album in 1994 with When I Woke, evolved around Glabicki’s distinct sound and grew into a genre-defying band of multicultural rock and soul that built its career around dramatic live performances. Now, Glabicki is exploring new sounds and opening new doors with a solo career. He has started touring with Dirk Miller, Rusted Root’s guitar player and explains that although he has his roots with Rusted Root, this show is very different. Live, both Glabicki and Miller play acoustic and electric guitar and Glabicki often adds rhythm with a kick drum that creates a fuller sound than you find with a traditional duo. Glabicki sees his solo career and new music as extensions of his creative talent, and while the show features many Rusted Root hits, it… Thursday, February 28, 2019, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Doris Kearns Goodwin ~ Leadership: In Turbulent Times

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin brings history alive with an uncanny sense for detail and a master storyteller’s grasp of drama and depth as she examines the leadership triumphs, trials and tribulations of the men and women who have shaped this nation, culled from her lifetime examination of the U.S. presidency. Are leaders born or made? Where does ambition come from? How does adversity affect the growth of leadership? Does the leader make the times or do the times make the leader? In her most recent book, Leadership: In Turbulent Times, Goodwin draws upon the four presidents she has studied most closely – Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Lyndon B. Johnson (in civil rights) – to show how they recognized leadership qualities within themselves and were recognized as leaders by others. By looking back to their first entries into public life, we encounter them at a time when their paths were filled with confusion, fear, and hope.… Presenter: Festival of the Arts BOCA.
