Emory IPoLS Scientific Programming in Python Bootcamp
Colloquia
This workshop, intended for graduate students interested in biophysics but open to all, will serve as a rapid introduction to best practices in scientific programming and computational techniques frequently used in biophysics research. Techniques covered will include scripting in Python, Jupyter notebooks, computational simulations, data analysis and management, command line tools, machine learning, and using git and GitHub for version control and collaboration. The material will be covered through interactive sessions exploring problems across a broad range of topics in biophysics. Some prior experience of the basics of coding in Python will be useful but not essential.
It is expected that most participants will bring their own laptops, but computers can be provided to participants who cannot bring one. Funding will be provided to cover travel and housing, courtesy of the NSF IPoLS Student Network. Attendance will be limited to no more than 30 participants.
