This dance concert features three choreographic projects by faculty Julio Medina. The evening explores cycles of life and death and is a continuation of Medina’s research of indigenous Mexican cosmology.

Creativity Conversation: Jeanine Durning
2026–2027 Emory Dance, Free, No Tickets Required
Join us for a conversation with Alpert Award winning choreographer and performer Jeanine Durning, along with the dancers Miguel Alejandro Castille, Sarah Konner, and Erin Kouwe, whose work, The Play, will be presented by the Dance Program October 23-24. Durning and the dancers will discuss “nonstopping,” her revolutionary improvisational system utilized in The Play. They will also discuss how this performance project shifts the dance company paradigm away from a top-down model with choreographers hiring dancers to a system in which the dancers have agency as initiators and collaborators. A post-show discussion will follow the October 23 performance.

In this work by Alpert Award winning guest choreographer Jeanine Durning, a cast of three dancers explore the shifting terrain of desire, grief, and connection in an unstable and ever-changing world. Using improvisational scores, the work asks how we create meaning, maintain agency, and begin again - together - in the face of uncertainty.
