CANCELLED - Winter Saddleback

Albany Chapter Saddleback is located in the middle of the Great range and offers some spectacular views of the park.  We will come in from the Gardens and go up via Ore Bed, avoiding the cliffs.  The first and last 5 miles are relatively flat and easy.  The climb up the Ore Bed slide and the last climb up Saddleback are steep.  Microspikes and snowshoes will be required for this hike.  In the end, it will be 12.5 miles and 3200 feet of elevation.  Bad weather date will be the 15th. Hike in Webster

Genesee Valley Chapter Please let me know if you want to attend, so I know who all is coming. , We will meet at 9am at the Whiting Road Nature Preserve parking lot at 421 Whiting Rd in Webster. We’ll hike about 6 miles through Whiting Road Nature Preserve and Herman Road Forever Wild. For those on the hike I led in December, we will follow the same basic route.  , Plan on snow shoes, but bring microspikes as well. It will creep up above freezing on Sat, but we will cross some open field and may catch some wind, so dress warmly. , We will likely finish by around noon (but do not count on it), so no need to bring lunch. But we will stop for snack and water breaks along the way. , New to ADK? Come join us for a couple of outings, and if you like what you see, become a member to support responsible outdoor recreation and enjoy all the benefits of membership! Bozen Kill Preserve Snowshoe

Albany Chapter Looks like there will still be significant snow so this is a Snowshoe!  The Bozen Kill Preserve in Altamont is managed by the Mohawk-Hudson Land Conservancy and the land includes a stream, several miles of wooded trails, escarpment features and gentle hills.  My expectation is we will start at 10 am from the Lower Parking lot and go 4-5 miles and 400-600' of elevation gain, and one short steep area.  Current forecast is just below freezing so proper dressing is essential to stay warm and happy.  Participants should be in good physical condition. Email me to register and I will email with specific directions.  Snowshoes are required. Region: Capital District. Type: Chapter Outings. Activity: Hiking. Snowshoeing. Posted by: Albany Chapter. SUNDAY HIKE Letchworth SP Hike (and Pancakes!)

Genesee Valley Chapter Note the meeting time! This will be our 25th annual pancake hike. We will drive to the parade grounds entrance on the east side of the river at Letchworth State Park and hike south along the newly opened Finger Lakes Trail to the old RR crossing, and back. This will be about a 5-mile Class C+ hike, mostly flat, but snowshoes or spikes will probably be required as the trail may be very uneven due to frozen boot prints.  After the hike we will go to Cartwrights' Maple Tree Inn.  We'll meet at 8:30 a.m. at Frontier Commons near the intersection of 390 and Jefferson Road and leave for Letchworth via carpool at 8:45. We won't be back until mid to late afternoon, so if you are pressed for time, this isn't a good match.  Bring a light snack as we may not get to the restaurant until around 1:00 or 1:30, and there may be a wait (very possibly outside). Also, bring cash for the meal (Maple Tree doesn't take credit cards) and the carpool drivers.  The carpool cost will be $24/car divided by the number of riders. (e.g.… Region: Genesee Valley Region.
