10-12 mile hike in Webster
This is the last day of firearm hunting, so we will stay in county parks. We will hike 10-12 miles through Whiting Road Nature Preserve, Herman Road Forever Wild Forest, and Webster Park up to the lake front. The hike will take 5-7 hours, so please plan accordingly.
We will stop along the way for snacks, lunch and water breaks, so bring plenty of food and water.
Please contact me if you plan on joining the hike, so I know who all is going. I will email the group a few days before with more details on the hike including more info on the route and where to meet.

Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Whiting Road Nature Preserve
Tuesday Hikes are being cross-posted to the MeetUp Group "ADK Genesee Valley Chapter"
Two-hour hybrid hike split between a 40-minute hike at a slower pace around the northern side of the park then returning to the cars, followed by a second hike at a faster pace heading to the southern and western parts of the park for the rest of the 2-hours. Meet 9:45am in the Whiting Road Nature Preserve parking lot (43.24685, -77.46883) on Whiting Rd in Webster for a 10:00am hike start. Please dress for the weather, bring some water to drink, and wear boots or trail shoes with good traction. Depending on winter trail conditions exospike or microspike traction devices may be needed. Sunday Hike - R.S.&E. Trail
Hike the entire (as far as I know) the Rochester, Syracuse and Eastern Trail from East Rochester to southeast Perinton, about 8 miles mostly on stone or paved trail; a little suburban street and sidewalk. Flat and easy walking unless there is snow or ice! Plan on carpooling to the beginning of the hike, bring water and a lunch, we can stop to eat.
Be prepared for the weather; bring lots of water, a snack or lunch, and possibly traction devices. Hiking poles may be useful especially if it is icy. Meet at 8:45 for a 9 AM shuttle start. No dogs, please. Contact leader with any questions. Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink. We'll hike the hilly trails of Thayer Hill Crescent Trail for approx. 4 miles or 2 hours. This location is on Pittsford Palmyra Road, Route 31. Pass Thayer Road on the right heading East and take the next left into the Firestone Plaza plaza parking lot. Please dress for the weather and bring water and a snack. Catskill Winter Peak Bagging Backpack, 12/20-21
December 20-21, 2025: Catskill Winter Peak Bagging Backpack. Trip Rating = A+,
General Description: This trip is intended for experienced winter backpackers only, and will involve one nite in the field. Only those individuals who have the appropriate winter backpacking experience, and the appropriate winter gear (e.g. cold weather sleeping bag/pad(s), snowshoes, microspikes, clothing, etc.), will be allowed to participate. Catskill High Peaks that will be summited include Table, Lone, Rocky & Peekamoose. On Saturday morning 12/20 we will leave Rochester via. carpool and drive to the Denning Rd. parking lot. From the parking lot we will backpack in to the lean-to on the Peekamoose-Table Trail. The LT is about 400' below the summit of Table. Mt.. We will spend the nite either in the LT or our tents. Saturday’s hike will be approx. 3.3 miles with 1,700' of climbing elevation. We will hike parallel to Irondequoit Creek through Powder Mills Park for about 7 miles. There will be some Out/Back and some loop. There will be hills with one quite steep.
Be prepared for the weather; bring lots of water, a snack, and possibly traction devices (might we have snow??). Hiking poles will be useful. Meet at 8:45 for a 9 AM start. No dogs, please. Contact leader with any questions. Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink.
