Sunday Hike - - Oatka Creek Park Class C --
Description:
We will meet at 9:45A.M. and start hiking at 10:00 am and return around 12:00 pm. We will meet at the "FISHING ACCESS" parking lot on Union Street just 60 ft south of the railroad tracks (2nd driveway on the west side after the railroad track) (see picture). Follow the link above at "where:" if you are unfamiliar with this parking lot. A picture of the entrance is included, it is along side a house. We'll hike about 2 hours through the almost flat terrain of the Oatka Creek Park.

Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Buckland Park and The Brickyard Trail
Tuesday Hikes are being cross-posted to the MeetUp Group "ADK Genesee Valley Chapter"
Two-hour hybrid hike split between a 40-minute hike at a slower pace on The Brickyard Trail (flat and wide) in the Sandra Frankel Nature Park returning to the parking lot, then a 2nd hike at a faster pace in Buckland Park on grassy trails for the rest of the 2-hours. Meet at 9:45am in the Buckland Park parking lot (43.11375, -77.58539) on Buckland Park Rd off Westfall Rd, near the tennis courts for a 10:00am hike start. Please dress for the weather, bring some water to drink, and wear boots or trail shoes with good traction. Sunday Hike - Mendon Ponds East Esker
Meet at 9:45 to get ready for a 10:00 hike start.
We will hike parts of the beautiful East Esker and North Meadow Trails for about 6 miles, with no road crossings! Bring water and a snack (or lunch), and dress for the weather. Snowshoes or traction devices and poles, may be useful or necessary. No dogs, please!

Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink. Two-hour hybrid hike split between a 45-minute hike at a slower pace north along the Genesee River looping back to the cars, then a 75-minute moderate section at a faster pace south along the Genesee River for the rest of the 2-hour hike. Meet at 9:45am in the Genesee Valley Sports Complex parking lot (43.12410, -77.63625; 149 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY 14611) for the hike start at 10:00am. Drive about half-way into the parking lot, a little past the EV charging station. Please dress for the weather, bring some water to drink, and wear boots or trail shoes with good traction. Depending on winter paved path conditions Nanospike, Exospike or other traction devices may be needed. John Texter will guide us on this hike. Nearly-Full Moon Walk
Join us for a walk, hopefully under a near-full moon and over snow. Meet at 5:30 PM for a start of 5:45 PM. We will hike for an hour or two, depending on the hikers and weather, through Lucien Morin Park. Please plan to gather afterwards at Bar-Bill East for a meal and/or drinks. Bring traction devices/snowshoes, poles, and water; dress for the weather. Bring a headlamp or flashlight - but don't plan to use it! No dogs on this hike, please.

Black Creek - Superbowl Sunday Hike!
Come out on February 8th to hike at Black Creek Park AND show some team spirit on Superbowl Sunday!

The hike (or snowshoe, weather dependent) around the the park's perimeter trails will total about 6 miles. Please park in the back of the lot designated for the Sunnyside lodge. We will meet at 8:45am to begin our journey promptly at 9:00am. Football-themed apparel is encouraged but should still be appropriate for the conditions. Microspikes, snowshoes, or poles may be helpful, depending on the recent Rochester weather. We'll plan to stop along the way for one or two water/snack breaks. Well behaved dogs are allowed on this hike. All participants will be required to sign ADK's release of liability form, which will be provided by the trip leader for you to complete in the parking area prior to starting the hike. Finger Lakes Trail Maintenance Day
Group work day for the 10 miles of the Finger Lakes Trail maintained by GVC. Carpooling from Lowes Marketplace/Henrietta is encouraged. Spring clean-up involves removal of branches and limbs that have fallen on the trail over winter, trail repair from spring runoff if needed and cleaning of drainage channels. Typical work day ends early to midafternoon. Optional group stop for all you can eat buckwheat pancakes with maple syrup at Cartwright Maple Tree Inn on the way home.
