Catskill Winter Peak Bagging Backpack, 12/20-21

December 20-21, 2025: Catskill Winter Peak Bagging Backpack. Trip Rating = A+, General Description: This trip is intended for experienced winter backpackers only, and will involve one nite in the field. Only those individuals who have the appropriate winter backpacking experience, and the appropriate winter gear (e.g. cold weather sleeping bag/pad(s), snowshoes, microspikes, clothing, etc.), will be allowed to participate. Catskill High Peaks that will be summited include Table, Lone, Rocky & Peekamoose. On Saturday morning 12/20 we will leave Rochester via. carpool and drive to the Denning Rd. parking lot. From the parking lot we will backpack in to the lean-to on the Peekamoose-Table Trail. The LT is about 400' below the summit of Table. Mt.. We will spend the nite either in the LT or our tents. Saturday’s hike will be approx. 3.3 miles with 1,700' of climbing elevation. On Sunday 12/21 we will hike in order: Table, Lone, Rocky, back to Lone, Peekamoose, back over Table, back to the LT to pickup gear, then… Region: Catskills. Type: Chapter Outings. Sunday Hike - Powder Mills Park

We will hike parallel to Irondequoit Creek through Powder Mills Park for about 7 miles.  There will be some Out/Back and some loop. There will be hills with one quite steep.   Be prepared for the weather; bring lots of water, a snack, and possibly traction devices (might we have snow??). Hiking poles will be useful. Meet at 8:45 for a 9 AM start. No dogs, please. Contact leader with any questions.  Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink. Equally important is the proper footwear, gear and clothing for changing conditions. This hike is planned to last 3-3.5 hours, but many times unexpected delays can occur, so if you are pressed for time, this hike may not be a good fit. Tuesday Holiday Hike (Hybrid)-NOTA and Roc Holiday Village

Tuesday Hikes are being cross-posted to the MeetUp Group "ADK Genesee Valley Chapter" Two-hour hybrid Holiday hike split between a 2.7-mile hike on University Ave to Roc Holiday Village, then a second 1.3 mile hike at a slower pace from the RMSC Planetarium on East Ave returning to the meetup parking lot. Meet at 9:45am in the parking lot at Atlantic Ave and Russell St (43.15594, -77.57846) for a 10:00am hike start. Please dress for the weather, bring some water to drink, and wear boots or trail shoes with good traction. Depending on winter sidewalk conditions Nanospike or Exospike traction devices may be needed. Please RSVP if you're doing the 2nd hike to coordinate a shuttle back to your car.
