Letchworth Westside Trails and River Walk

You must contact the hike leader if you wish to join this hike. Moderately strenuous (due to length) 10 - 14 mile hike with over 1,000'’ of elevation gain. This is not a beginner’s hike. Depending on group size and pace, this hike could take 6 to 7 hours, so please plan accordingly. If you have time constraints, this may not be the hike for you. Please bring a lunch, snacks, plenty of water and a positive attitude. There will be an exploratory nature to this hike. 4-Day Backpack of the Main Finger Lakes Trail

This 4-day/3-nite backpack will be on the easternmost section of the main Finger Lakes Trail, and is intended for experienced backpackers only. Daily mileages hiked will be 9.6, 15.6, 16.4 & 7.0, and there will be daily climbs up and over the hills of Catskill State Park.The last day will include a climb of Slide Mt. the second highest peak in the Catskills. Participants need to be in good physical condition and be fully self-sufficient with their own gear, able to prepare their own meals, either carry a bear canister or be able to hang their own bear bag, and to cope with any adverse weather that might be encountered. We will leave Rochester via. carpool early Thursday AM, spot a vehicle, then begin our backpack. We should be back in Rochester by early evening on Sunday. Dogs are not allowed on this trip. Women's Hike--Durand Eastman lakes

We'll enjoy some fall colors hiking around the lakes of Durand Eastman Park. There will be some small hills and possibly a little mud. We'll aim to hike about 4 miles or 2 hours. Bike Ontario Beach to Seneca Park and return

This is an easy going, fall foliage viewing ride We will ride south on the Genesee River Trail, along the boardwalk at Turning Point Park, across the Genesee River over the pedestrian bridge, past the Zoo on the loop around Trout Pond, and then return. There is some elevation at the Zoo and Turning Point portions. Plan for about a two and a half hour outing. If interested, we may go to Abbotts for frozen custard after the ride. We will meet at 9:45 at the Ontario Beach Park parking lot (43.257359, -77.607379) near the public restrooms. Wheels start rolling at 10:00 AM. Sunday Hike - H. Hollister Spencer Recreation Area

Join us for a 3+ hour, 6+ mile hike in the Harriet Hollister Spencer Recreation Area, 6775 Canadice Hill Road, Springwater, NY to enjoy fall hiking, hoping to see some colors! Bring a lunch and we'll stop to enjoy it. This will be a loop hike so we can carpool from Rochester. Bring cash to help pay $12 per car (if we have 2 cars and 6 people that will be $4 each person). Sorry, no dogs allowed. , Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink and a snack or lunch. Hiking poles will be useful on the slopes. Equally important is the proper footwear, gear and clothing for changing conditions. This hike may last 3.5 hours (plus travel time), but often unexpected delays can occur, so if you are pressed for time, this hike may not be a good fit. Paddle - Genessee River (Charlotte)

This is an 11:00 paddle - hoping the day warms up a bit by then as it'll be October. We'll meet at the boat launch off Lake Ave in Charlotte and paddle south on the Genesee River. Women's Hike- Highland Park

Originally, there was a different hike posted for this date which had to be moved. Now, this is an opportunity to hike Highland Park in the fall and take in the fall foliage and blooms that are there which we rarely go to see. We will meet along Pinetum Dr. and hike the pinetum, and cross into the Poet's garden and onto the hills where lilacs and other specimen trees grow. We'll hike 2 hours, approx. 4 miles. Bike the Erie Canal from Fairport to Macedon and return

This is an easy-going, flat, out-and-back ride along the Erie Canal from Fairport Junction to Lock 30 in Macedon and return. Surface is either paved, gravel, or stone dust. Women's Hike - Pittsford Challenge

Let's hike a little longer than usual - 6 miles instead of the usual 4 using mostly wooded trails adjacent to farms and suburbs in the town of Pittsford. Want to increase your step count before the holidays come? Join us on this challenge. Starting at the Pittsford Dog Park parking lot, there'll be two tiny hills and a short road walk to the start of the flat, stone dust/gravel Auburn Trail south of the canal. After the first 4.5 miles out-and-back ends back in the parking lot, we'll continue east on the undulating Simon Stone's Mill Trail to the site where Irondequoit Creek passes under the Great Embankment, then return to the cars.
