Hike (Tuesday)-Mendon Ponds

Join us for a 2-hour hike in Mendon Ponds Park. Meet 9:45am in the parking lot (43.015279, -77.566501) at the intersection of Douglas and Pond Roads for a 10:00am hike start. Please dress for the weather, wear boots or trail shoes with good traction, bring water to drink, and some tick/mosquito repellent. If it has recently rained, there may be some wet, muddy and possibly slippery sections. Hiking poles would be useful on the steeper sections. Saturday Paddle - Black Creek

Join us for a Saturday morning paddle on Black Creek! We’ll meet at the boat launch in Churchville Park (see map for details) at 8:45am so we can be ready to paddle by 9am, heading west toward Lake Road/Route 19. There are a couple of larger trees which have fallen across the creek farther down, but we should be able to maneuver around them. Total paddling time will be about 3 hours. Paddle - Otisco Lake

Otisco Lake is a bit of a change from some of our local paddles.  The lake is about 4 miles long with an interrupted causeway across the southern half of the lake.  The west side is fairly wild and has a very high,steep hill.  There is a place for lunch and swimming (if you wish)  We will launch at the DEC boat access point on the southwest side of the lake.  The drive is about 1 3/4 hours one way, so this is an all day trip!!  Due to the timing on the trip, you should be able to paddle comfortably at about 3 mph. (we average about 2.5 on most Monday paddles)    We will meet up at the Bass Pro Shop parking lot on RT 20 on the west approach to Auburn.  The address is: 1579 Clark's St. Rd, Auburn.  Meet there at 9:00. , Bring lunch, rain gear, change of clothes, snacks, water. Bike Ride-Ontario State Park to Braddock Bay

12-14 mile round trip bike ride starting at Ontario Beach Park, riding west on Beach Ave/Edgemere Drive to Braddock Bay. Ride will have very little shade and one small hill. Paddle - Sugar Creek

We will meet and launch from behind the finger lakes museum located near the intersection of Rt.54A and cr. 29, behind the Branchport fire department, located on Rt. 54A.  There are entrances off both 54A and cr. 29.  (https://www.fingerlakesmuseum.org), , We will paddle south from the museum on Sugar Creek passing through the Townsend Grady Wildlife Preserve, exploring the marshlands while we make our way to the west branch of Keuka Lake where we will paddle up the west side of the branch before returning on the east  side  back into sugar creek.  There are Porta Potties at the museum as well as hiking trails.  There is a section of Sugar Creek to the north of the museum that can also be explored if time permits, estimate this to be a 2 - 21/2 hour paddle.  A portion of it could be in open water and subject to weather conditions!!  , This is a bring your lunch paddle - and is starting at 11:00 as this is a bit of a drive for folks.  But it will be an interesting paddle and a new area to explore.… Region: Genesee Valley Region. Women's Hike

Once a month we will hike a section of the Crescent Trail in Perinton. Hopefully after a series of out and back hikes, we can cover the whole trail of approximately 35 miles. Today we will start along the Erie Canal and hike through the McCoord Woods section of the trail over to Garnsey Road and back. This will be a somewhat hilly approx. 4 mile hike. Bristol Hills Branch Hike B-2

Join us for an 11.4 mile hike across Italy Valley, including about 3 miles on roads.  We'll immediately lose 1000' of elevation only to gain it back on the opposite side of the valley.  We'll meet at 7:45 to leave at 8 AM and carpool to Pulteney Road, leave a car or two, then drive to Wood Hill Road for an estimated 9:30 start. Moonlight paddle - canadice Lake

We'll meet at the DEC boat launch at the north end of the lake for a 7:30 launch.  This is not a "paddle around the lake"!!!  We'll paddle out into the lake, raft up, eat snacks that folks bring to share and watch for the moon to rise.  We should still be able to see a full moon even though it is 2 days after.   , You must have some sort of light on your boat or on you.  , Bring boating equipment, a light of some sort, snacks to share. , Canadice Lake is located south of Rochester off Rt. 15A   Drive through the village of Hemlock, turn left onto Purcell Hill Rd, turn right at the end onto Canadice Lake Rd - the put in will be about a mile on the right.  Look for cars parked along the road.   You can drive down to the water, unload your boat and then park on the road. Women's Hike

We will hike the East Esker at Mendon Ponds. It is a hilly wooded hike. Hiking poles may be helpful. Please bring water and a snack. Be prepared to hike at 10 AM. We will plan to hike for 2 hours so we will take a cut off and hike just under 4 miles. There are portable restrooms in the parking lot at Calvary Lodge. Paddle: Charlotte to Lower Falls on the Genesee River

Women's Hike

We will hike the Durand Eastman Ridge trail (yellow trail).  It is a hilly, wooded trail with many nice views. We will finish the hike along Durand lake and then hike a short distance along Lake Ontario. Please bring water and a snack. Dress for the weather. Finger Lakes Trail Maintenance Day

-Volunteers are needed for trail maintenance on October 1, 2022.  Maintenance includes blazing, litter removal, trenching, mowing and brush removal.Volunteers are also needed for walk throughs, generally the week before the scheduled maintenance date. -See recent Geneseean newsletters for important details and updates.  Once you indicate your interest via the steward email address, you will receive updated information, reading materials and sign up forms. -Maintenance projects are cancelled only when the weather conditions endanger the livelihood of workers. -Your participation is crucial to the success of our promise to help the FLT conference maintain such a special trail system in our state. Paddling Erie Canal at Ayrault Rd, Fairport

We'll explore the Erie Canal in Fairport this day.  This is a 11:00 – 1:00 paddle (be on the water at 11:00 please!!!). We'll launch our boats at the Erie Canal Boat Launch at Ayrault Rd, Fairport, NY 14450, paddle for an hour, take a break then paddle back. The put in is east of the intersection with Kreag Rd.  It is on the northeast side of the canal and is a DEC boat launch. You must read and sign the “club’s release of liability form”. Genesee River at Charlotte, Rochester

This is a favorite paddle!!!  We'll paddle south on the river through the marina and into a more wilderness area.  Sometimes we're treated to seeing the huge cement boat that comes in from Canada!!!   We'll paddle an hour then turn back to our put in.  There are picnic tables at Charlotte and places to eat if anyone is interested. South End of Canandaigua Lake – Woodsville, Naples

We will meet at the DEC parking lot in Woodsville at the south end of Canandaigua Lake for a 11:00-1:00 paddle (weather permitting).  We call this the "real estate tour" as we'll be passing by lovely homes and cottages along the shoreline. The air and the water are getting colder these days so you might want to bring extra clothes (for "just in cast") and dress for the weather.  If the weather looks suspicious, we will cancel the paddle.
