Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Tryon Park
Tuesday Hikes are being cross-posted to the MeetUp Group "ADK Genesee Valley Chapter" 2-hour hybrid hike on the hills in Tryon Park along the wetlands/Irondequoit Creek. 1st hike approx. 40-minutes down to the marsh shoreline then a climb back to the cars. 2nd hike 3+ miles with 600+ feet of ascent/descent. Meet 9:45am in the Tryon Park parking lot for a 10:00am hike start. Tryon Park (43.16667, -77.53818) is located at the end of Tryon Park (road) off of North Winton Road between Browncroft and Empire Boulevards. Drive to the end of Tryon Park (road), cross over highway 590 and the parking lot is on the left. Please dress for the weather, wear boots or trail shoes with good traction, bring some water to drink and some tick/mosquito repellent. Hiking poles would be useful on the steeper sections. Bike the Erie Canal from Lock 32 to Buffalo Road
Bike the Erie Canal towpath through suburbs, an urban park and industrial sections of Monroe County. We meet at the Lock 32 parking lot at 2759 Clover Street, Pittsford (opposite Framingham Lane) at 9:45 AM. At 10:00, we will ride west on the Erie Canal Trail, through Genesee Valley Park to Buffalo Road in Gates, then return to Lock 32. The roughly 16-mile round trip is mostly flat, with gravel or paved surfaces. Please wear your helmet, dress for the weather and bring water and a snack. You must read and sign the ADK’s “Release of Liability” form which I will have at the parking lot. Expect about a two and a half hour ride with stops. Entrance to the DEC Mud Lock boat lunch is located off RT 90 appx. 1 mile south of Route 5/20
42.946525n 76.733815w Off route 90 turn right on River road and stay to the right which will lead to the boat launch.
Porta Potties are provided at Mud Lock and bathroom facilities are provided at our stop in Seneca Falls. This is a long paddle with a lunch stop in Seneca Falls at the Peoples Park/Community Center.
We will paddle west on the Seneca River appx. 5 miles where we will pass through locks 2 and 3 before paddling on through Van Cleef Lake and entering the canal park area in Seneca falls where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we will paddle back to Mud lock, we will have the current at our backs for the return trip. Total distance is appx. 11-12 miles. Bring your own lunch and hydration.
Be prepared to sign the ADK liability form, wear your PFD tight and correctly, and keep an eye on fellow paddlers. Bring: boat, PFD, boating supplies, sunscreen, water, snacks (optional)

Starting in the village of Fairport, we will ride east on the Erie Canal to Macedon Canal Park and, if interested, the old lock 60. Meeting near the Roundhouse Shelter in Genesee Valley Park, we'll sample a bit of the north branch of the Lehigh Valley Trail then head toward Court Street, then south through Highland Park to the Highland Crossing Trail, taking the canal path back to our cars. Only 14 miles but there will be multiple stops for road crossings (with pedestrian crossing signage/signals).
One very short stretch of sidewalk; otherwise paved or crushed stone surface.
Meet at 9:45 for a 10 a.m. start. Park near the entrance to the Roundhouse Shelter lot.

This will be an easy out-and-back flat hike on a mostly crushed stone surface (rare spots of thin mud). We'll pass through woods, by a wetland and through a more open area. Bike Keuka Outlet Trail
Join us for a 14-mile out-and-back ride along the former canal connecting Keuka Lake to Seneca Lake. The trail consists of all types of surfaces, mostly crushed stone, but some washed out rocky areas and some paved areas. It’s a gentle uphill on the way out and downhill on the way back (mostly). Finger Lakes Trail Maintenance Day
Group work day for the 10 miles of the Finger Lakes Trail maintained by GVC. Carpooling from Lowes Marketplace/Henrietta is encouraged. Fall maintenance consists of cutting back summer weed and brush growth, trimming bushes and trees that have grown into the trail and cleaning drainage channels so they are clear for spring runoff. Typical work day ends early to midafternoon. Optional group stop for ice cream at Ice Cream Island on the way home.

The launch onto Sodus Bay is a sandy beach, directly next to the US Coast Guard Station. Large free parking lot, modern rest rooms. The bay can have heavy boat traffic so we'll likely hug the shoreline, counter clock-wise, circumventing the majority of the bay as far south to Nicholas Point. Optional extension of a 3rd hour onto Lake Ontario if conditions permit. Might want to bring a lunch. PFD required, hydration and sun protection recommended. Bike Lehigh Valley Trail West
We’ll bike west starting from Rochester Junction along the Lehigh Valley Trail. We'll meet at 9:45 AM and wheels start rolling at 10:00AM. This is an out-and-back ride with turnaround at the Wadsworth Junction with the Greenway Trail. This is a flat, mostly gravel and dirt trail through woods, along the Honeoye Creek in Rush, past farms and neighborhoods, and over a trestle spanning the Genesee River. There are bathrooms and a bike maintenance station at Rochester Junction. We will ride approx. 15 miles with occasional stops. Women's Hike-Durand Eastman Park, Yellow Trail
We will hike for 2 hours, approx. 4-miles on the hilly trails of Durand Eastman park yellow trail. Meet at 9:45am for a 10:00am hike start. Meet at parking lot C on Lakeshore Blvd. at Durand Eastman park. This is near Horseshoe Road. We'll be in the woods, along the golf course, short pieces along Zoo road and Log Cabin road and hike out along Trott and Durand Eastman lakes. Please dress for the weather, bring water and a snack. Boots or trail shoes and poles may be useful on the trails.
If weather permits, bring a bag lunch and join me near Lake Ontario for a picnic lunch after the hike ends around noon.
