Snowshoe hike at Beechwood State Park
This is a snowshoe hike over the rolling forested terrain of Beechwood State Park. The trails wind past dramatic views from bluffs overlooking Lake Ontario to marshy wetlands of the Maxwell Creek inlet. I have three pairs of snowshoes plus poles available for those who are new to snowshoeing and would like to try it out-one pair sized for adult females, the other two sized adult men's. Email me any questions you may have about suitable cold weather attire, level of fitness required, or trail conditions. All participants must contact me prior to joining the hike.

Sunday Hike - R.S.&E. Trail
Hike the entire (as far as I know) the Rochester, Syracuse and Eastern Trail from East Rochester to southeast Perinton, about 8 miles mostly on stone or paved trail; a little suburban street and sidewalk. Flat and easy walking unless there is snow or ice! Plan on carpooling to the beginning of the hike, bring water and a lunch, we can stop to eat.
Be prepared for the weather; bring lots of water, a snack or lunch, and possibly traction devices. Hiking poles may be useful especially if it is icy. Meet at 8:45 for a 9 AM shuttle start. No dogs, please. Contact leader with any questions. Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink. Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Mendon Ponds-Devil's Bathtub, West Esker & Hopkins Point

Two-hour hybrid hike in Mendon Ponds split between a 40-minute hike at a slower pace along the shoreline of Deep and 100 Acre Pond toward Hopkins Point, then a second hike at a faster pace with hills on Devil's Bathtub and the West Esker Trail. Meet at 9:45am in the parking lot on Pond Road for Devil's Bathtub/Algonkian-Shelter for a 10:00am hike start. From the Pond Road entrance at Clover St (65) near the Nature Center & Wild Wings, drive a half-mile east into the park to the Devil's Bathtub/Algonkian-Shelter parking lot on Pond Rd, next to Algonkian Shelter and Deep Pond. Don't drive up the short drive to the Devil's Bathtub Shelter. This parking area is west of the intersection of Pond and Douglas Roads where some of our other hikes start from. Women's Hike & Potluck, Thayer Hill Crescent Trail
We'll hike the hilly trails of Thayer Hill Crescent Trail for approx. 4 miles or 2 hours. This location is on Pittsford Palmyra Road, Route 31. Pass Thayer Road on the right heading East and take the next left into the Firestone Plaza plaza parking lot. Please dress for the weather and bring water and a snack. Poles and hiking shoes/boots with good traction may be helpful. Plan to sign the liability waiver in the parking lot.
After the hike, gather for a potluck at Jill's house. Please bring a dish to pass. Dishes can be warmed in oven or microwave at Jill's.

Catskill Winter Peak Bagging Backpack, 12/20-21
December 20-21, 2025: Catskill Winter Peak Bagging Backpack. Trip Rating = A+,
General Description: This trip is intended for experienced winter backpackers only, and will involve one nite in the field. Only those individuals who have the appropriate winter backpacking experience, and the appropriate winter gear (e.g. cold weather sleeping bag/pad(s), snowshoes, microspikes, clothing, etc.), will be allowed to participate. Catskill High Peaks that will be summited include Table, Lone, Rocky & Peekamoose. On Saturday morning 12/20 we will leave Rochester via. carpool and drive to the Denning Rd. parking lot. From the parking lot we will backpack in to the lean-to on the Peekamoose-Table Trail. The LT is about 400' below the summit of Table. Mt.. We will spend the nite either in the LT or our tents. Sunday Hike - Powder Mills Park
We will hike parallel to Irondequoit Creek through Powder Mills Park for about 7 miles. There will be some Out/Back and some loop. There will be hills with one quite steep.
Be prepared for the weather; bring lots of water, a snack, and possibly traction devices (might we have snow??). Hiking poles will be useful. Meet at 8:45 for a 9 AM start. No dogs, please.
