FLT- Camp Seneca to Holimont
Please join me for a day hike along the McCarty Hill State Forest and Holimont
sections of the Finger Lakes Trail. The hike will begin at 9 am on Hungry Hollow Road
near the old CCC Camp Seneca just on the outskirts of Ellicottville, NY. The GPS
coordinates are N 42 13.471 W 78 41.929. There is a picnic pavilion at the old
Camp Seneca where we can rest and have a lunch/snack after the hike. The hike will
be a total of 10 miles – 5 miles out and 5 miles back, with a total elevation gain and loss
of 1376 feet. We will begin the hike at the old Camp Seneca and ascend north through
the McCarty Hill State Forest, then hike along a ridge to the Holimont trail register, then
down a hill towards Route 242 until we hit the five mile mark, then turn around and hike
back to our cars. Chances are we will enjoy scenic forests with the trees at the height of
