THREE DAY BACKPACKING TRIP on the Finger Lakes Trail.

Come join Leslie Salathe and Brian Monckton for a 21.9 mile backpack over three days and two nights through the gently rolling hills of Allegany State Park.  Following the Finger Lakes Trail, we will start from the north at the Bay State Road trailhead (not too far from the Red House park entrance) and head south toward our eventual trip terminus at PA Route 346.   Day one is the longest day with a hike of 8.5 miles to the Stony Brook lean-to where we will spend the night while overlooking beautiful Stony Brook.  Plenty of time to enjoy breakfast in camp the next morning, day 2 will take us 6.2 miles to the Willis Creek lean-to for another night enjoying the company and the sounds of Willis Creek.  The morning of day 3 brings a 7.2 mile hike  - leaving the park along the way and crossing a titch into Pennsylvania - to the trailhead at PA Route 346.   2 hours (or less!) from just about anywhere in WNY, easy access ---- come join us!    Contact Leslie at lesliesalathe@live.com or Brian at bkmonckton@gmail.com… Hosted By: Niagara Frontier Chapter. Hike Poverty Hill in the Conservation Trail

HIKE : Saturday September 26, 2026 - 9 AM start - Hike Poverty Hill on the, Conservation Trail – (B), Leader - Vicki Wulf – vmwulf@roadrunner.com, 585-236-7675 text or call, Please join me for a day hike along the Poverty Hill section of the Conservation Trail. The hike will begin at 9 am at the point where the Conservation Trail crosses Poverty, Hill Road in Ellicottville, NY. We will hike the trail East to Route 219, then turn around, and hike west back across Poverty Hill Road, and then continue southwest on the trail, to Ellicottville-Maples Road, and then turn around to hike back to our cars. The hike is, 7 miles with 1561 feet of elevation gain and loss. Parking for the hike can be found along Poverty Hill Road in Ellicottville, NY near the, point the Conservation trail crosses the road. Paddle Mutual Riverfront Park - Buffalo River

PADDLE: September 26 Saturday.  Mutual Riverfront Park - Buffalo River. Hamburg St. at South St. Buffalo. Arrive early for a 10AM launch. We'll paddle past the silos and the old riverboat, SS Columbia.  The new launch is at the corner, incorporating a stairway and a steep ramp that you lower your boat down. Bring a rope to hold your boat as you walk alongside the ramp. Poly/plastic kayaks are recommended; not sure about composite kayaks.
