St. Regis Chain Lakes Paddle, Paul Smiths. Alternate (rain) date Tuesday, May 19

Paddle through 3 lakes connected by the St. Regis River in Paul Smiths, NY.  The trip will start at the parking lot at Keese Mills, travel to Lower St. Regis Lake, Spitfire Lake and Upper St. Regis Lake.  The lakes are lined with gigantic “Summer Camps” of the well to do, many built in the early 1900s. Spring Bird Walk -- Up Yonda Farm & Environmental Education Center (Bolton Landing)

Spring is in the air! May is a great time to hear and see native and migratory birds in the Adirondacks. Perhaps you have spotted them already in your neighborhood. This will be an easy morning walk of about two miles on flat and sloping terrain in a 75-acre nature preserve that is an e-bird hot spot. We hope to see warblers, flycatchers, thrushes and tanagers. We will stop often and record the bird species identified.  Please bring binoculars if you have them. Hurricane Mountain Hike, Keene

This hike is one of the best “not a High Peaks” hike, with about 2000’ of elevation gain. There is a rock summit, which affords 360-degree views of the High Peaks. It also has a fire tower, which, if open, allows for additional panoramic views. The hike starts with a steady climb. It levels out a bit before climbing again for the last third. Paddle Amy's Park Pond and wetlands, North Bolton

begin at the designated Amy's Park launch, accessed from the main parking lot.  We will head north to explore the pond first.  Then we will turn southward to paddle the outlet and wetlands.  The 1-2 carries will be short, so we can assist one another with those. Paddle, Crane Pond, Pharaoh Wilderness

We will carry our boats from the Crane Pond parking lot to Alder Pond (.9 miles). Then paddle across Alder Pond and take out at its head. Cycle from The HUB in Brant Lake

This ride will start at the HUB in Brant Lake and take Beaver Pond Road to the hamlet of Adirondack on Schroon Lake. Beaver Pond Road has a climb, but it's a quiet scenic back road (in rough shape in some parts). Hike, Poke-O-Moonshine (Observers Path), Willsboro

This hike passes through beautiful forestland. It starts with a stream crossing then proceeds up at a steady climb. About halfway to the top, we pass a beaver pond. A quarter of a mile from the summit, we intersect the Ranger Trail, turning left to get to the summit. There are prominent cliffs seen from the Northway as well as from peering over the edge of the summit. The hike offers excellent views of Lake Champlain, Burlington, VT, and some of the High Peaks. Paddle Nicks Lake, Old Forge

Enjoy a scenic paddle on Nicks Lake surrounded by state land and beautiful undeveloped shoreline.  The state campground is hardly visible with the exception of a large sandy swimming beach.  Behind a scenic footbridge is a small bay and inlet with small beaver channels to explore.   There is a sandy section of shoreline opposite the boat launch where paddlers can take a break, stretch legs and have a snack at the mid-point of this outing.  Paddlers will meet and unload their watercraft at the state campground boat launch at 9:30 AM - ready to paddle at 10:00 AM.  This will be a 2.5-hour paddle. Paddle, Lake Abanakee, Indian Lake

Approximately four miles in length and one-half mile wide, the Lake has shallow depths and irregular shoreline provide great nesting for osprey, eagles and other birds.  We will start at the boat launch just north of the Indian Lake Public Beach on Chain Lakes Road and paddle south down the length of the lake, exploring the many quiet coves along the way. Hike, Sleeping Beauty Mtn/Bumps Pond loop, Fort Ann

Sleeping Beauty Mtn is on the ridge of mountains above the east shore of Lake George.  We will hike north from Dacy Clearing to Bumps Pond, taking a left at the first trail junction to traverse the loop counterclockwise.  We will summit SB Mtn on the return, south towards Dacy Clearing. There is a fabulous view of the Lake George region from the summit and ledges of Sleeping Beauty.  The hiking distance will be approximately 5.6 miles, with 1053' of elevation gain. Paddle, Lens Lake, Stony Creek

Lens Lake offers a peaceful and scenic paddling experience on a largely undeveloped and pristine body of water.  The lake is unique in its rich diversity of floating bog mats and plant life including pitcher plants, sun dews, cranberries and cottongrass.  The narrow channels that wind through the bogs create an immersive experience allowing you to get up close to one of the richest plant habitats in the Adirondacks.  It’s also part of the Town of Corinth’s Home - ADK Gateway 8 Challenge.
