Hike to Marion Pond

This is a lovely small pond.  The walk begins at the Loch Muller trailhead (south end of the Hoffman Notch trail) towards Bailey Pond.  Prior to reaching Bailey, we will turn onto an old road.  This road crosses 2 brooks, which are no longer spanned by bridges.  When the route leaves the old road, it follows paint blazes up to and then along a ridge until reaching the pond.  The total elevation gain is about 600'. Meeting Time/Place: 8:20 at the Black Bear in Pottersville, or ready to hike at 9:00 from the trailhead. From Rt 9 in the hamlet of Schroon Lake, take Hoffman Rd for 6.2 miles, then turn right onto Loch Muller Rd. Drive about 1.5 miles all the way to the parking area at the dead end. From Olmstedville, take Irishtown Rd (which becomes Hoffman Rd, turn left onto LM Rd) or Trout Brook Rd (turn left onto Hoffman Rd, then right onto LM Rd).  Please specify whether you will meet the group at the BB or the TH. Paddle Boreas Ponds

Boreas Ponds offers spectacular views in a peaceful setting. Participants must portage .8 of a mile to the launch site, so wheels or a lightweight boat are necessary. Paddle, Putnam Pond and North Pond Circumnavigation

Flatwater Paddle around the perimeter of the co-joined Putnam Pond and North Ponds. These ponds are the border between both the Putnam Pond Campground and the Pharoah Lake Wilderness.A favorite leisurely paddle on a very quiet pond with the surrounding hills clothed in forests of hemlocks, pines and hardwood trees. Hike, Mt. Inez

The hike up Mt. Inez is on a recently marked and improved trail that includes lots of switchbacks to make the elevation change very manageable.  Once at the top, there are great views of the Boquet Valley and Vermont.  Bring a snack or lunch for our break to enjoy the views. Paddle, Round Lake, Town of Long Lake

This is a ‘backcountry’ lake fed by Little Tupper Lake and draining into the Round Lake outlet. After launching onto a meandering stretch of the Bog we will make a circumnavigation of the Lake. Hike, Cat Mt., Bolton Landing

3.8 mile RT loop on red and blue trails with 1,040 ft. elevation gain to summit with fine views of southern Lake George and the southwestern Adirondacks. The red trail has some steep sections. There is over 8 mile of shoreline to explore. Emphisis of the paddle is water touching State Land. Private land abuts the northern 1/3 of the Flow closest to the dam. Paddle, Harrisburg Lake, Stony Creek

Harrisburg Lake spans 186 acres with 6.3 miles of shoreline, providing plenty of space for exploration and offering a tranquil paddling experience with its calm waters reflecting the surrounding mountains. Shallow in spots, the lake features floating mats of water lilies and boggy islands, where paddlers can find wild cranberries in the fall. A 2021 survey by the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program confirmed that the lake remains free of invasive plant species, preserving its natural beauty and ensuring a pristine paddling environment. Paddle, Forked Lake, Town of Long Lake

A one-way paddle on Forked Lake from the Forked Lake/Raquette Lake Carry to the Forked Lake Campground.  This paddle will start at the Carry off North Point Road.  Paddlers will meet and unload their watercraft at the carry at 9:30 AM.  We will drive our vehicles to the end point at the Forked Lake Campground and then carpool back to the start ready to begin our paddle at approximately 10:30 AM.  From the starting point we will paddle into the west bay and a portion of the Brandreth Lake Outlet.  Leaving the west bay we can stop for a break to stretch and have lunch/snacks on sandy beach across from Squirrel Point.  We will then proceed along the south shore heading east.  We can explore a portion of the Raquette River as we proceed to the end point at the campground. Hike Pharaoh Mt., Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area

This mountain is 2556 ft high with a great 360 view. 1470 ft. elevation gain. The first 2 miles are an easy walk on a road, then lovely woods walk till the last mile which is a steep climb. Paddle, Henderson Lake, Newcomb

Henderson Lake is beautiful with incredible views. There’s an easy launch, but you have to portage .4 of a mile to get to the launch site. Wheels or an easy to carry boat are recommended.
