Art in Nature Festival
Arts & Entertainment
The 15th annual Art in Nature Festival returns to Crabtree Nature Center on Saturday, September 6th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this free event, attendees can view and purchase “plein air” painting, or artists painting the landscapes of the nature preserve.
Enjoy art workshops such as buckthorn dyeing, clay sculpting, watercolor painting and paper cutting. There will also be honey for sale, animal encounters and travel blogger Melissa Schwartz will be presenting in our classroom. Several local organizations such as the Barrington Area Library, Collies Without Borders, and Trickster Cultural Center will be providing information about their services.
This year's event will include painting, creating with clay, drawing and print making. Additionally, visitors can view and purchase local art throughout the event. Live music programs will be performed by the string duo Missing Piece from Chicago, and local folk duo Second Wind. Food will be available for purchase from Tasty Love Catering.

In the last 12 months, Northwest CASA served 550 survivors of sexual harm in NW Cook County.
NW CASA provides a 24/7 crisis hotline, medical & legal advocacy in ERs and courtrooms, and trauma counseling for survivors, as well as prevention education in schools and community spaces. All services are 100% free of charge to survivors and the community.

Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk

On Sunday, October 12 the Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk will join communities across the United States to help end hunger one step at a time, both around the corner and around the globe. This year the Walk will begin at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 421 E. Main St. Barrington, (with both a 1-mile and 5K route) throughout the Village of Barrington. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the Walk will begin at 1:00. CROP Hunger Walks support the international relief and development work of Church World Service. Additionally, the Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk will support the efforts of local organizations fighting hunger, including Northern Illinois Food Bank, FISH Food Pantry--Carpentersville, BACOA Meals With Wheels, and Wauconda-Island Lake Food Pantry. All are invited to be a part of the CROP Walk!
