The Lifespan of a Fact

Arts & Entertainment Parker Players Theater Company Presents The Lifespan of a Fact A sharp, fast-paced theatrical showdown exploring truth, storytelling, and the power behind both. Directed by Barrington's Dominic Green, The Lifespan of a Fact is a riveting and darkly funny play by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell, and Gordon Farrell, based on the book by John D’Agata and Jim Fingal. This smart, high-energy production dives into a real-life literary clash between a celebrated writer and a relentless fact-checker—raising urgent questions about truth, authorship, and the stories we choose to believe. When essayist John D’Agata submits a piece about Las Vegas and a tragic teenage suicide, fact-checker Jim Fingal is assigned to verify every detail. What begins as routine editing quickly escalates into a gripping intellectual showdown. D’Agata defends his “adjustments” as artistic expression. Fingal calls them inaccuracies. The result? A fast-moving, wildly entertaining debate that crackles with wit, tension, and surprising humor—pull… Sponsor: Parker Players Theater Company. Friday, April 24, 2026, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM. Miles in Their Shoes

Health 📣 Every step you take helps lighten the load for a child in need. Let’s walk together. Let’s walk with heart. Let’s walk Miles in Their Shoes. Miles in Their Shoes is a community walk raising awareness and support for local children in crisis, with symbolic elements that reflect the challenges many kids carry every day. Miles in Their Shoes is more than a walk. It is a powerful in-person experience designed to foster empathy, raise awareness, and inspire action for children facing crisis in our community. The event begins with a lap of silence, honoring the voices of children who often go unheard. As participants walk in quiet reflection, they carry backpacks to represent unseen burdens, navigate obstacles that mirror real-life barriers, and move past labels that too often define children in the system. Along the route, walkers encounter stories, symbols, and spaces that bring to life the emotional and physical weight many children carry every day. At the end, participants come together for a final… Sponsor: Kids In Need Mchenry County. Saturday, April 25, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Emricson Park: 1313 Kishwaukee Valley Rd Woodstock, IL 60098.

Saturday, April 25, 2026, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM. Education St. Mark's Day School is situated in the beautiful, rolling countryside of Barrington Hills. We provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for your early learner. Since our first classes opened their doors in 1966, St. Mark's has been in high demand and has maintained its history of excellence. We offer a creative and engaging theme-based program where learning through our play-based environment is central. Play-based learning is a teaching method in which children learn through what they do best - play. It encompasses both free play and teacher-directed play, with the nature of the play shaped by the child's initiative and the adult's involvement. In play-based learning settings, children are encouraged to pursue their interests, start activities, and be self-directed with guidance from teachers. Educators also use play to reinforce and practice skills and concepts that have been explicitly taught. Play allows children to manipulate the world around them, and encourages creativity and imagination… Sponsor: St. Mark's Day School. Monday, April 27, 2026. 337 Ridge Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
