ELEVATE AAPI: Chinatown Rising Film Screening and Q&A with Director/Producer Josh Chuck
With Asian American Studies becoming increasingly demanded and mandated throughout the country, the question for educators becomes, what and how do we teach? This film and study guide are important resources that shine a light on proud Asian American activists from the civil rights era. All students will recognize Asian Americans not as perpetual foreigners, but instead as Americans with a unique legacy of contributions to this country. Participants will leave the session having witnessed vivid examples of solidarity between Asian Americans and African Americans, intergenerational community organizing, and social justice activism by a long-neglected and isolated immigrant community.
