Screening of The Right Track (External)
On Wednesday, March 18, the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking in Orange County is hosting a screening of the documentary The Right Track, followed by a moderated discussion with experts and survivor-leaders examining how exploitation often begins long before trafficking is visible.
Young adults—particularly those navigating financial instability, housing insecurity, foster care involvement, or limited support networks—are among the most vulnerable to trafficking in its many forms. This film offers a powerful, accessible way to surface what risk can look like on campuses and in surrounding communities, and how early awareness and intervention can make a difference.

AI Taskforce Book Club
This spring, the AI Taskforce will facilitate a book club to discuss The Opposite of Cheating: Teaching for Integrity in the Age of AI by Tricia Bertram Galland and David A. Rettinger. About the book: In these days of an ever-expanding internet, generative AI, and term paper mills, students may find it too easy and tempting to cheat, and teachers may think they can’t keep up. What’s needed, and what Tricia Bertram Gallant and David A. Rettinger offer in this timely book, is a new approach—one that works with the realities of the twenty-first century, not just to protect academic integrity but also to maximize opportunities for students to learn. The Opposite of Cheating presents a positive, forward-looking, research-backed vision for what classroom integrity can look like in the GenAI era, both in cyberspace and on campus. Accordingly, the book outlines workable measures teachers can use to better understand why students cheat and to prevent cheating while aiming to enhance learning and integrity. Bertram…

Book Club
The Spring 2026 book club will read and discuss Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman.
About the book:
The average human lifespan is absurdly, insultingly brief. Assuming you live to be eighty, you have just over four thousand weeks.
Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon. Still, we rarely make the connection between our daily struggles with time and the ultimate time management problem: the challenge of how best to use our four thousand weeks.
Drawing on the insights of both ancient and contemporary philosophers, psychologists, and spiritual…

Bertram…

Walking Clubs: Spring 2026
Register your Walking Club for Spring 2026 here!
The Walking Club Challenge is a campus-wide wellness competition designed to promote connection, movement, and fun among faculty and staff. Employees form teams of 3 to 5 members and earn points by completing group walks. Each time at least three team members take a walk of 15-minutes or more together on work days, the team earns 1 point. The team with the most points at the end of the challenge wins. Simple, social, and great for wellness!
Steps:
Select a Team Leader and register your walking clubs of 3 to 5 IVC employees using this form.
Once you are registered, the designated Team Leader will be sent a spreadsheet to record the number of 15-minute (or more) walks your team takes during the semester.
The team with the most walks wins!
Rules:
Each walk must be a minimum of 15 minutes, but even a longer walk still just counts as 1 walk.
At least 3 team members must be present for the walk to count.
Walks must fit into your regular workday and be taken…

Bertram…

This initiative is designed to build shared understanding, institutional alignment, and actionable strategies around the principles of Community College 3.0, a model focused on preparing students for success beyond completion through strong transfer outcomes, career readiness, and social mobility.
The CoP brings together faculty, classified professionals, and administrators to collaboratively define what ""future ready"" means at Irvine Valley College and to foster a collective understanding of how all roles across the college contribute to student success.
These workshops are created as a series and build upon one another to help attendees build a collective understanding. Participants should plan to attend all sessions in the series to facilitate this shared experience and knowledge.
