14th Singapore Society of Nephrology Annual Scientific Meeting 2024

The Singapore Society of Nephrology has organized its Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in collaboration with KDIGO. The theme of this year’s two-day meeting is ‘The Kidney Connection: Across the Continuum.’ The 2-day meeting will include a pre-congress portion on the morning of October 12th. The main meeting will include common symposia, as well as being subdivided into a physician and allied health/nursing track.
Beyond the core topics of kidney replacement therapy, glomerulonephritis, and chronic kidney disease, this year’s meeting will encompass a broader spectrum of kidney care including transplant medicine and conservative kidney care. The ASM aims to provide an update to nephrologists (including trainees) and allied health colleagues in Singapore on the latest developments and updates in the realm of nephrology. This meeting is also extended to a regional audience in Southeast Asia for participation.

Peritoneal dialysis is so effective and easy-to-perform renal replacement therapy compared to hemodialysis and CRRT is virtually non-existent in this region. If our pediatricians have knowledge of PD they can easily, do it in their centers. Many children in Bangladesh developed acute kidney injury and they referred us lately. In addition to this many youngsters who developed ESRD in their early infancy needed renal replacement, in that sense, CAPD is the only hope for this patient for future renal transplant as hemodialysis is not available in all peripheral centers. It’s limited to city hospitals only.
