RTA Bus Rapid Transit Virtual Informational Meeting

Community Office Hours The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority announced the agency will host a second round of public informational meetings for its Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Study project. The three virtual one–hour meetings will be held via Zoom on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 6 PM, and Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 12 PM. BRT is a high-quality public transportation system that operates like a rail service using buses on a separate or dedicated transit lane. The RTA is studying the region's first BRT network connecting New Orleans East and the Westbank to more than 40,000 downtown jobs.   The RTA has also launched an online survey on its website for public feedback on route options. The survey is available through Friday, May 27, 2022. Open House: Lakeview-City Park Hazard Mitigation Grant Project

Community Events The City of New Orleans, Batture Engineering, Waggoner and Ball, in conjunction with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans and New Orleans City Park, is finalizing the design for the Lakeview-City Park Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Project. This green infrastructure project is designed to: • Reduce flooding; • Increase native plants and enhance fishing in City Park; and • Significantly increase drainage to protect personal property. Storm Aware & Prepare

Community Events Pontchartrain Conservancy and NOLA Ready will host Storm Aware & Prepare, which is presented by Entergy. The event is a hurricane & COVID-19 supply giveaway (for the first 250 households) ahead of the 2022 hurricane season. Supplies residents can expect at the event include nonperishable food kits, solar lights and more. Partner organizations, including NOLA Ready, will be onsite to provide information and answer any questions for community members on storm prep, and the New Orleans Department of Health will also be present with masks and at-home COVID-19 tests. In addition to hurricane prep resources, this family-friendly event will also include coastal educational activities for adults and children. Creole Sneauxballs will also be on hand providing snowballs for purchase.
